Tinubu in Jos Confirms ‘Don't Vote for Me’ Prediction on Power Supply

During the 2023 campaign, President Tinubu made a clear electoral promise: “If I don’t give you constant electricity in four years, don’t vote for me for a second term.”

When he took office in 2023, Nigeria had a power supply of over 4,000 megawatts and lower tariffs. Today, the electricity power supply is less than 4,000 megawatts on the average, and Nigerians are paying higher tariffs. Nigeria currently has the lowest per capita electricity consumption in the world, with a rate below 30% of the African average. Africa’s average is 617kwh, Nigeria’s is 144 kWh. This means that Nigerians consume least electricity than other Africans.

In a glaring display of disregard for promises and a lack of trust, President Tinubu, during a brief airport stopover to visit grieving families of the Jos attack on Thursday, April 2, 2026, stated that one of the reasons for his 10-minute stay was that the airport had no electricity. “You have no light here I fly out in ten minutes” At a time when Nigerians are enduring days without power, our leaders cannot even stay a few minutes without it.

Now is the time to stop incompetent leaders—those lacking the capacity and compassion—who prioritise their own comfort over the well-being of the people and make empty promises.

For the umpteenth time, I strongly condemn and completely disassociate myself from any form of illegal killing, destruction or violence. This is not the first time I have made this position loud and clear and it certainly will not be the last. I will continue to repeat it as many times as necessary that I do not and will never condone violence or any act of terrorism, regardless of who is involved or what justification is presented.

Seriously, I fail to understand why that agent of hatred, Alex Barbir, is persistently trying to drag me into his conversations. Though, I suspect that it is for the attention and engagement that mentioning my name brings him. I am aware that when he first started mentioning my name, he had fewer than 10,000 followers on this platform. Now, he has grown that number to over twenty thousand, so it is obvious why my name keeps coming up in his ungodly conversation.

Let me be unequivocal and absolutely clear that anyone who takes innocent lives or destroys the livelihood of others ceases to have any moral standing with me. Even if we share the same blood, tribe, region or religion, such a person is no brother of mine. I have no sympathy whatsoever for terrorists. I despise their actions. These terrorists have not only taken the lives of many people I personally know but have also murdered thousands of innocent and vulnerable people, many of whom have no voice, no platform, and no one to speak up for their justice.

I stand firmly against all forms of violence, anywhere in the world, and against anyone who perpetrates it.

However, what I will never accept is the dangerous and unfair generalizing or profiling that paints all Muslims as terrorists or claims that such atrocities are committed in the name of Islam. This narrative is deeply unjust to over two billion Muslims worldwide, especially to the countless Muslim victims of terrorism and their families.

My position will always remain consistent, clear and firm that I stand for peace, for justice and for the dignity of every innocent life.

As Christians in Nigeria continue to face brutal violence and death for their faith this Holy Week, I joined VAT Chairman @Robert_Aderholt in leading 19 of our colleagues in a statement condemning violence and persecution against Christians.

We also reminded the Nigerian government that President Trump signed bipartisan legislation that includes language that @MarioDB and I fought for to explicitly tie continued U.S. security assistance to the Nigerians making significant progress in addressing violence against Christians in the Middle Belt. This horrific persecution must end. Now.

Nigeria is a reflection of the people in it.

Someone shot his shot at Victor Osimhen for a jersey and even tagged a vendor.
Osimhen saw it and said he’d personally send one.

Then told the vendor to add 15 more jerseys for others.

-That’s where it got interesting.-

Immediately money entered, the story changed.

The vendor suddenly said Osimhen told him to share it himself.

He claimed he had already picked 15 people.

—Then it got worse—
He called the same person who brought him the business a scam.

From there, he tried to “negotiate”:
7 for the guy, 8 for himself.
Greed, plain and simple.

The guy refused and asked for all 15 jerseys as instructed.

—Next thing—

The vendor switched again.
Said the post was “stolen” and brought another person to justify it.

—Now here’s the real problem—
Instead of people calling out the wrong,
they started defending it.

“Make una settle.”
“Na just jersey.”
“Let it go.”

- Someone even offered to pay extra, 
rewarding bad behavior.

And that’s when it becomes clear:
We are not different from the people we complain about in power.

small compromise, small dishonesty, small defense of wrong.

Nigeria didn’t just become this way overnight.

We built it, little by little, with everyday actions like this.

Truth is, many people are only “good” because they’ve not had the opportunity to do worse.

One day, we will have an honest conversation about the double standards on this TL.

Leadership Without Compassion is Not Leadership

During his visit to Benue State in June 2025, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stopped at the Government House but did not go to the actual scene where innocent Nigerians lost their lives. Similarly, yesterday in Jos, his engagement ended at the airport instead of at the affected communities.

What happened in Plateau yesterday highlights a complete absence of leadership. True leadership requires presence, empathy, compassion, and a willingness to meet people where their pain truly lies. For citizens who have just lost loved ones, homes, and their sense of safety, being addressed from an airport tarmac is profoundly inadequate.

This approach exacerbates the sense of abandonment already felt by innocent Nigerians who have endured repeated cycles of violence without meaningful protection or justice. Plateau deserves more than distant words; it requires urgent action and a clear commitment to ending the insecurity that continues to claim innocent lives.

In such moments, leadership must not only be visible but also tangible—standing with victims, listening to survivors, and acknowledging the depth of their grief.

If we truly desire a better Nigeria, we must demand leadership that is present, responsive, and responsible at all times.

They are like a sorcerer with no staff. They are like a witch with no wand. They are like a racehorse with no legs. They are like a race car with no engine. They are like a ship with no sail. They are like a castle with no walls. They are like a warrior with no sword. They are like a Knight with no armour.

They are like a jilted lover who is all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Poor souls. God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.

This is what happens when all you do is pose for group shots, talk balderdash on television, contract an army of malignant and malevolent trolls on social media, employ the services of leporous and incompetent spokesmen, contract rag sheets to spread lies and fake news, rely on your foreign friends to bring carnage and destruction and destabilise our country and lament from morning till night without offering any concrete solutions.

Frankly they got what they deserved.

Actually I believe they deserve even worse and worse will surely come their way.
