We can't wait to make a thought provoking display in school with all the passionate home learning that year 9 @NHGS have been doing
#BlackLivesMatter
This piece represents a message for banners used in the global protests.
We are so proud of our students @NHGS who continue to work hard and engage in their home learning. Year 9 students have been learning and reflecting on #BLM#BlackLivesMatter campaigns.
This is just one of many great pieces of work and concludes with a personal perspective.
Books I Love about Love is the themes for #RSEday@NHGS we have had a great time thinking about our favourite books about love and relationships. In the words of Mr Bowles, “It’s hard to think of a book NOT about relationships!”
Here are some of our staff recommendations…
#RSEday encourages us to consider our role in promoting healthy relationships and positive sexual health - whether as a parent/carer, an educator, a friend or family member.
Here are some ideas for conversations and activities for parents and carers.

Year 8 students are currently studying a unit of learning on 'Truth and Justice'.
The global events of the last week and this weekend's protests highlight the continuing need for us to stand up against all injustice.

We are all welcoming the bank holiday weekend; a break from school work, and Eid arrives after a month of fasting. We have shared this month with a focus on kindness, patience, charity and self-discipline - we hope you have enjoyed our daily reflections.
Have a great weekend.
As we edge towards the end of the month of Ramadan and a half term of home learning it seems a good time to reflect on how much we are achieving.
We have learned a lot; how to develop self-discipline, patience and kindness. And what we have learned will stay with us, always.
We are so proud of our students and families for their tremendous efforts with distance learning. We understand the challenges with the current situation (and the need for resilience, patience and dedication) but we also understand the power of learning - wherever it happens.
Studies suggest that when we help others, it can promote changes in the brain that are linked with happiness. Helping others can build your own self esteem and sense of purpose.

At a time of increased focus on the qualities of kindness, charity, patience, self-discipline, and gratitude, there is one universal quality that binds all these things together: LOVE. Whether it is love for yourself, love for others or love of God, love is what keeps us going.
Friday is special for lots of reasons. As it heralds the weekend ahead it is a time to remember the importance of taking a break. Having a break is not the same as quitting; it is taking the time to re-charge your batteries so you're even better on Monday.
Self-discipline means delaying your immediate wishes in favour of long term success. It requires patience and commitment and is needed now more than ever.
Here is an interesting article about building self discipline in students. https://t.co/lDY66Omo1z
We all search for happiness but maybe we don't need to search too hard... Maybe it's already around us but we just don't recognise it?
Happiness is not having what you want; it's wanting what you already have. H Schachtel
