@chinesereview99@benedictrogers@SCMPNews If you really want to see the prediction of HK beyond 1997 back in the colonial times, then I strongly suggest this 1968 iconic book written by Australian (and longtime HK expat) Richard Hughes called, "Borrowed Time. Borrowed Place. Hong Kong and Its Many Faces." - 100% right.
@chinesereview99@SomethingThar@alin88666813@benedictrogers@SCMPNews So, let me get this straight. Killing one innocent person by any regimes is one too many. Don't you agree? In that token, the CPC since 1921 had killed more than 100M of their own citizens, plus more than 500M in unborn babies under the "One Child Policy". Your comment?
@alin88666813@chinesereview99@SomethingThar@benedictrogers@SCMPNews Sadly, despite the polar opposing ideology views with Fascism and Communism. Their mode of operations is exactly the SAME. Therefore, the modern Russia and the PRC has more in common with Fascism than Communism. Hence we called today's PRC as the "Chi-Nazis."
@tapgsp@benedictrogers@SCMPNews Back in the days in 1898 with the colonial time, 99 years were symbolically meant to the indefinite where the colonial power could extend another term or two under the same guidelines. Times had changed and so did history. Kissinger and Nixon had everything to do with PRC now.
@Funnytimez2 @benedictrogers@SCMPNews I would like to add an additional point you made. What you have said is absolutely correctly, albeit you MISSED the important aspect that HK BOUGHT the electricity and water from the PRC. Nothing is Free, and HK actually could be sourced cheaper elsewhere in Asia. Your move.
For Father's Day, I'd like to talk about my relationship with my dad, Dr. Wang Bingzhang, who's been a political prisoner in the PRC for nearly 20 years now, all of them in solitary confinement.
@inmediahk Sign of the times. The front facade was glorious, however, the real ugly faces are from the back where many of the supporting structures have been failing and hardly maintained properly.
@cwhung125 Anyone thinking of Tomato and Fried Eggs for lunch or dinner? Seriously, I haven't had that for quite a long, long time, and probably staying the hell from that dish hahaha!
@AhJace No matter how the PRC/CCP desperately tries to change and deny Hong Kong's true history in their own policy, patriotic education and brainwashed ideology. People DO KNOW the complete factual truth anyhow. So, who is Beijing really trying to fool, really?
Today we commemorate victims of communist terror. Mass deportations by Soviet regime started on June 14,1941. Tens of thousands of Lithuanians were forcibly deported to gulags in Siberia& Far North. We must not let history repeat itself.Russia's terror in Ukraine must be stopped.
@benedictrogers@SCMPNews Most people didn't even know this. I would summarized as followed: 1972 UN General Assembly Meeting before Xmas break (5 mins. left) , the PRC proposed the provision of the transfer of power for the former colonial territories. (pg. 155 below link) https://t.co/nF6rP0D6rf
