La stazione di Kami-Shirataki, situata a Hokkaidō, in Giappone, era destinata alla chiusura a causa del numero estremamente ridotto di passeggeri. Tuttavia, i responsabili della compagnia ferroviaria si accorsero che un'unica studentessa utilizzava quotidianamente il treno per andare a scuola.

Invece di chiudere la stazione, le autorità presero una decisione sorprendente: mantenere il servizio attivo fino a quando la ragazza non avesse completato gli studi.

Per diversi anni, il treno arrivava e partiva esclusivamente in base agli orari scolastici della giovane, permettendole di raggiungere la scuola al mattino e di tornare a casa nel pomeriggio.

Quando la studentessa concluse il suo percorso di studi, la stazione venne definitivamente chiusa, segnando la fine di una straordinaria storia di responsabilità e rispetto per l'istruzione.
