Let’s debunk the lie that the modern state of Israel was an imperial or colonial project of the US and /or Great Britain . As we will see, the exact opposite is true. The US and Great Britain did everything in their power to prevent the Jews from re-gaining independence, while assisting the Arabs to further their imperial/colonial goals.

--Prior to WW2, the US had nothing to do with the implementation of the Mandate of Palestine. After WW2, the US pursued a policy of supporting Britain’s opposition to the Zionists.

--Almost immediately after the Mandate of Palestine was assigned to Great Britain, the British government reneged on the promises contained in the Balfour Declaration .

-- In 1922, the British government issued its first White Paper. Although the 1922 White Paper stated that the Balfour Declaration could not be amended and that the Jews were in Mandatory Palestine by right, it reduced the area of the Mandate available to Jews for immigration and land purchase by excluding the area east of the Jordan River and handed it over to the Hashemites. This document also established the contrived concept of “economic absorptive capacity” solely for the purpose of limiting Jewish immigration, again, contrary to the terms of the mandate.

--On October 21, 1930, the British government, again , in violation of the terms of the mandate, issued another White Paper which stated that Jewish settlement would be permitted only under stringent government supervision.

--In 1939, the British government issued yet another White Paper effectively ending Jewish immigration to Mandatory Palestine. Stringent restrictions were also imposed on land acquisition by Jews.

--Following Britain’s lead, the US State Department did everything possible to prevent the establishment of the modern state of Israel.

-- In December 1947 , after the Arab rejection of the partition resolution, the United States imposed on arms embargo on the area, which embargo only affected the Jews. The US was well aware that the Arabs were planning to attack the Jews/Israel and that the Jews/Israel lacked the ability to legally purchase weapons with the embargo (which soon became a UN imposed embargo) in place due to the continued presence of the British and its naval blockade. The State Department also sought to prevent “military-age” Jews, especially Jewish men, from leaving the US and Europe for Israel. The British had renewed their military alliances with Iraq and were supplying arms to Trans-Jordan, Syria and Egypt. The American embargo was shutting off supplies to the Jews while the Arabs, with the aid of Britain and the US obtained arms indirectly through Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. Moreover, the United States had transferred over $ 37,000,000 worth of surplus United States property to the Arab League States prior to the December 5 embargo. Further, Britain announced it would continue to send arms worth an estimated $ 25 million dollars to Egypt, Iraq, and Transjordan prior to the imposition of the embargo. France also shipped seven million dollars’ worth of arms to Syria.

--On March 19, 1948, the US ended its support for the partition resolution by announcing that it opposed its enforcement .

--On April 2 , 1948, the US even rejected a request for armor-plating for ambulances serving the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem on the premise that doing so might “provide a loop-hole” in the arms embargo “through which exporters might seek to send material to the Near East.”

--During the 1948 war, the US State Department repeatedly sought , through the ceasefire process, to limit Israeli territorial gains.

--Neither the US nor Great Britain sought to impose sanctions on or in any way admonish the Arab states for violating the UN Charter by attacking Israel .

--Great Britain not only refused to back partition, it never voted in favor of admitting Israel into the UN as a member state and only recognized Israel more than a year after Israel won its war of independence. The US also only granted Israel de jure recognition AFTER it defeated the invading Arab states.

--The US only agreed to sell Israel offensive weapons well after the Six Day War and only formed a strategic alliance with Israel during the Reagan administration.

🚨 Although the Mandate of Palestine explicitly stated that ONLY THE JEWS had the right to sovereignty in Mandatory Palestine, the Jews were willing to comprise and bent over backwards to reach a peaceful resolution with the Arabs. The Arabs rejected two offers of statehood --in 1937 (Peel commission offer) and 1947 ( UNGA resolution 181).
🚨Instead of compromising, the Arabs first waged a civil war against the Jews, bringing in THOUSANDS of Arabs , armed by the British, from surrounding Arab states to attack the Jews.
🚨When the Arabs' civil war failed, the surrounding Arab states waged a war of annihilation against the Jews. Despite being armed, trained and funded by the British, Americans and others, these Arab armies lost their war and the state of Israel emerged!

The pathetic cries of victimhood by the 8th generation descendants of Arabs who waged these wars, fled prior to the wars, or were forced to flee as a direct result of these wars their ancestors started ,is beyond tiresome and pathetic. Get over it!!!
