Happy Lunar New Year! 🧧🏮🐎 This year marks the 3rd year the holiday has been officially recognized in New Jersey, thanks to legislation Ellen sponsored that was signed into law in 2024.
Earlier this week, Shama joined Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps for their annual awards ceremony, honoring the incredible individuals who have gone above and beyond in their duties as volunteer EMTs. We are so grateful for TVAC and all they do to care for our residents!
Over the weekend, Shama had the pleasure of attending the Mayor Lizette P. Parker Memorial Foundation’s Black History Month Celebration, recognizing the people “Making a Difference in the Community!” Another huge congratulations to all those honored!
Gordon and Shama joined Englewood Health AM/PM Urgent Care for their ribbon cutting this afternoon, presenting them with a citation from the legislature to commemorate the occasion!

In 2021, Hurricane Ida caused extensive damages to the roadways of the Palisades Interstate Park. Earlier this month, a bill sponsored by Gordon, Shama & Ellen was signed into law to allocate the funding necessary to repair those roadways & finally restore full access to the park
When the George Washington Bridge backs up, a traffic jam extends miles down I-95, leading navigational apps to direct drivers into towns proximate to the Bridge, creating dangerous gridlock in our smaller communities. Now, the AG can prohibit app redirects onto local roads.
Today Gov Murphy signed the Safe Communities Act, sponsored by Ellen & Gordon, establishing crucial protections for immigrant communities. The law requires the AG to develop policies governing the interaction between certain sensitive locations & federal civil law enforcement.
Today we celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream of equality, justice, and unity that continues to inspire us every day.
Earlier this week Shama visited @CityGreenNJ in Clifton, where she learned more about the important work they’re doing to support sustainable, healthy communities by fostering equitable access to local food and green spaces.
