A thorough, well-researched recap of everything that is wrong about NJ's approach to labor law, and the state's ongoing efforts to misclassify independent contractors as employees. Please read and share!
250 years ago tonight, a young man named Israel Bissell brought news of the first military encounter between British and American soldiers by traveling 350 miles over five days — passing through New Jersey with stops in Elizabeth, New Brunswick, Princeton, and Trenton, where he arrived on April 24, 1775.
“These criminals have targeted New Jersey, and now New Jersey is targeting them.” – Assemblyman Joe Danielsen
A4755 has been signed into law! #retailtheft#njld17#alwaysatyourservice
Organized retail theft threatens local businesses, staff, and communities. Today, Governor Murphy signed A4755 into law, strengthening penalties and adding protections to combat retail crime. Hear more from business owners and advocates. https://t.co/pGaxApSdLa
We have all seen viral videos of “smash and grab” robberies in which thieves run into stores and destroy display cases to steal large quantities of goods.
Today we are cracking down on the threat of organized retail theft through upgraded penalties and extended prison terms.
Assemblyman @JoeDanielsen17 is taking a stand against organized retail theft. His bill, which just cleared committee, would bring tougher penalties for repeat offenders, strengthen protections for workers, & establish a new retail theft unit. Sponsored alongside Asw. Simmons.
How is blue laws still a thing? It's the most ridiculous government overreach. I truly hate living in a place that doesn't allow supermarkets to provide plastic bags and closes stores on Sunday. If only those were the only issues.

This is interesting bc people have so many criticisms of the Bergen County blue laws
They limit employment, deprive NJ of sales tax, reduce tourism & affect people who don’t shop on Saturday for religious reasons. Also arbitrarily enforced (you can buy a Giants shirt at MetLife)
Very happy to hear that the ILA & USMX have reached a tentative agreement on the Master Contract ahead of the Jan 15th deadline. A big THANK YOU to the representatives who worked diligently to successfully negotiate this agreement and avoid any disruptions.
Organized retail theft hurts businesses and communities.
Legislation sponsored by Asm. @JoeDanielsen17 & Asw. Simmons, which passed committee yesterday, would crack down on repeat offenders and create a retail theft unit. @Marenco_Julio@NJRetailers
