Next stop: Essen!

Four of our NL-ix colleagues — Leon van der Laan, Michael Gross, Carsten Schiefner and Arjan Wekking — will be attending DENOG18.

Why? Because building a better Internet is about more than infrastructure. It’s also about sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas and staying connected with the people who design, operate and develop the networks behind it.

Going to DENOG18 too? Let’s connect in Essen!

With STHIX joining the NL-ix family, Stockholm becomes part of our distributed European interconnection platform.

This connection works both ways. Networks across the NL-ix footprint gain access to the established network ecosystem in Stockholm, while STHIX users can connect into the wider NL-ix network ecosystem across Europe.

We are pleased to announce that NL-ix has acquired STHIX, the Stockholm-based Internet Exchange.

STHIX has built a strong and trusted position within the Swedish Internet community. By bringing STHIX and NL-ix together, we strengthen that local ecosystem while connecting it to the wider NL-ix European Business Exchange.

For STHIX customers, this means access to the international NL-ix footprint and its extensive network ecosystem across Europe, as well as a broader range of interconnection and connectivity services. For NL-ix customers, it means further reach into the Nordic region.

Most importantly, the local presence, expertise and relationships that have made STHIX what it is today will remain.

Same Trusted Interconnection. New Opportunities.

BGP is at the heart of how the Internet works. But how well do you really understand what happens when routes are announced, selected or suddenly disappear?

On 7 December, we’re hosting the next NL-ix BGP Course in Rotterdam.

A full day of BGP, combining the theory you need with hands-on exercises and real-world routing scenarios. Led by BGP expert Iljitsch van Beijnum.

The course is deliberately small: a maximum of 8 participants. That means plenty of room to ask questions, get hands-on and really understand what is happening under the hood.

A few days dedicated to what we know best: interconnection, peering and the Internet infrastructure that keeps everything moving.

Dirk and Kevin will be there to exchange ideas, talk networks and hear what’s happening across the European interconnection community.

See you there!

Where does your network actually end?

Employees, applications, cloud environments, partners and suppliers increasingly connect over the Internet. So what happens to your traffic once it leaves the network you control?

That question brought Wifinity and NL-ix together.

As a new reseller of NL-ix Sovereign Internet, Wifinity can help customers extend visibility and control beyond their own network and into the Internet their business depends on.

We spoke with Peter Kort of @Wifinity about why the whole chain matters — and what our partnership means for customers.

Yesterday, our colleague Michael Groß joined the STACKIT Cloud X Summit.

An interesting day with a strong focus on cloud, digital sovereignty and the growing importance of European digital infrastructure.

It was also good to see KPN on stage, sharing more about its partnership with STACKIT for the Dutch market. As a long-standing connectivity partner of KPN, that naturally made the story particularly relevant for us.

Because as more business-critical applications move to European cloud environments, the question is not only where they run — but also how organisations connect to them.

More choice. More control. And direct connectivity to the cloud platforms businesses depend on.

Thank you @STACKIT for hosting and for the interesting conversations. We look forward to continuing them.

An afternoon talking about where the Internet is heading. An evening at the beach with the people who build, run and depend on it. And, this year, a very good reason to raise a glass together: 25 years of NL-ix. 🥂

The Late Summer Drink has grown quite a bit over the years, but the idea behind it hasn’t changed: bring the interconnection community together, keep it informal and make room for good conversations.

The aftermovie gives you a little taste of this year’s edition. And if you spot a familiar face — or want to find yourself — we’ve also put the full photo gallery online. 📸

It’s official: NL-ix and IELO are partnering to bring NL-ix Peering to more networks across France.

As our exclusive Peering partner in France, IELO will make it easier for French networks to connect to the NL-ix platform and become part of our distributed European Internet Exchange — reaching networks across Europe through a single, interconnected ecosystem.

For NL-ix, it’s another step in strengthening our European reach. For IELO, it means adding NL-ix Peering to its strong connectivity and presence across France.

Today, four of our colleagues are at NLNOG Day 2026 in Hilversum — joining the Dutch network community for a day full of technical talks, discussions and, of course, plenty of networking.

From IPv6 and interoperability to BGP, network automation, ASPA and even Internet exchanges in space: there’s plenty to talk about.

For us, NLNOG is also about something that goes beyond the technology: the people who build, operate and keep the Internet running.

So if you’re at NLNOG Day today, come and say hi to our colleagues. We’d love to catch up and talk networks, peering, interconnection — or whatever is currently keeping you busy. 😉

See you at NLNOG Day!

We're delighted to have Flexoptix as a Gold Sponsor of the NL-ix Late Summer Drink 2026.

25 Years of Trusted Interconnection is more than a theme for this year's event — it's a chance to look at how the industry got here and what the next 25 years might look like.

Our Afternoon Sessions bring together three perspectives on that journey, from NL-ix's own history and future outlook, through the reality of enterprise networks, to the wider European conversation around digital sovereignty.

And after the sessions, we'll celebrate 25 years of NL-ix together on the beach.

Next week, NL-ix is joining Unternehmen im Fluss – Der Rhein verbindet in Düsseldorf.

For enterprises, connectivity is no longer just about being online. It’s about security, sovereignty, visibility and control.

So come and talk to us about what’s happening behind the scenes of your Internet connection:
🔐 Sovereign Internet – keep your traffic within trusted boundaries and stay in control of where it goes.
🛡️ DDoS Protection – detect and mitigate attacks before they become a business problem.
👀 Visibility & control – understand your traffic and make better decisions about your connectivity.
🇪🇺 European infrastructure – built around resilience, performance and trusted interconnection.

Come on, find us on the boat, somewhere between Cologne and Düsseldorf, to talk about the Internet behind your business.

Whether you're responsible for IT, security, infrastructure or digital strategy, we’d love to hear what challenges you’re facing — and explore what a more controlled Internet could look like for your organisation.
