We are pleased to share highlights from the visit of Ambassador @GillesBP to Hirado and Nagasaki, held on the occasion of the William Adams Memorial Ceremony and the annual commemoration at the Hollandsche Begraafplaats.
Ties between the Netherlands and Japan are good and go back a long way: we have enjoyed diplomatic relations for 426 years. The importance of our solid and unique partnership will be reaffirmed by the Emperor of Japan’s upcoming state visit.
This morning I spoke with Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae about our good trade relations, cooperation on security and defence, and the importance of coordinating economic security. As partners, we are working ever more closely together to tackle shared challenges.

The ‘girl with the pearl earring’ by #Vermeer will come to #Osaka in August during the renovation of the #Mauritshuis museum in The Hague. Judging from the press-conference, she is very popular in #Japan. Maybe this is her last tour, since she is ‘advancing in age’ like all of us
