1/3 The EU 🇪🇺 Representative and several EU Member States visited Khan al-Ahmar today, following recent Israeli announcements that would lead to the forcible displacement of the Palestinian Bedouin community living there.
1/3The EU, EU Member States and like-minded countries 🇪🇺🇦🇹🇧🇪🇧🇷🇧🇬🇨🇦🇨🇿🇨🇾🇩🇰🇫🇮🇫🇷🇩🇪🇬🇷🇭🇺🇮🇪🇮🇹🇯🇵🇱🇹🇲🇹🇳🇱🇳🇴🇵🇱🇵🇹🇷🇴🇸🇰🇪🇸🇸🇪🇨🇭🇬🇧welcome the organisation of Palestinian local elections on 25 April in these challenging times.
In a highly turbulent world, the role of multilateral organisations such as the United Nations (@UN) is of great value. The UN does important work in the areas of international peace, security and human rights, often under difficult circumstances.
This morning I welcomed Secretary-General @antonioguterres to the Ministry of General Affairs, where he sat in on the weekly cabinet meeting to discuss the UN and developments in the Middle East. We spoke about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is having a major global impact. Further UN priorities include the recovery efforts in Gaza and the situation in the West Bank. To address these issues, it is setting up a new Horizon Fund. I informed the Secretary-General that the Netherlands will contribute €5 million to the fund.
3/3 We call upon Israeli authorities to prevent and prosecute the lethal violence, raids and attacks. Israel has an obligation as the occupying power to protect Palestinian communities.
1/3 Joint local statement of diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah🇧🇪🇨🇦🇩🇰🇪🇺🇮🇪🇫🇮🇫🇷🇱🇹🇳🇱🇳🇴🇵🇹🇪🇸🇬🇧🇸🇪🇨🇭on increasing violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. We strongly condemn increasing settler terror and violence by the 🇮🇱security forces inflicted upon 🇵🇸communities.
2/3 We are especially appalled by the killings of Palestinians over these past weeks. This violence by settler militias, aimed at taking over land and creating a coercive environment, forcing Palestinians to leave their homes, must end.

The Netherlands keeps its attention on the situation in the Palestinian Territories, and we continue to advocate for a two-state solution. I stressed this point in a phone conversation with Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa of the Palestinian Authority (@PalestinePMO). It is good that the Palestinian Authority is working hard on implementing necessary reforms.
We spoke about the catastrophic situation in Gaza and developments in the West Bank, which are becoming more concerning with each passing day. The Netherlands condemns Israel’s attempts to expand its authority over the West Bank, and I emphasised the importance of maintaining our focus on this situation amid the conflict with Iran.

2/3 This highlights the alarming pressure on Palestinian communities and human rights defenders. It also exemplifies the expanding problem of settler violence across the West Bank, where Palestinians are forced to leave their homes and perpetrators are not held accountable.
1/3 We are appalled by the violent settler attack last night on the village of Susya, Masafer Yatta. The attack is one too many in a long series of attacks over the past year, including a recent raid on the Oscar-winning director Hamdan Ballal’s home and family.
4/4 We call on the Israeli authorities to safeguard civic space, ensure continued access to essential social and cultural services in East Jerusalem, and allow the Burj Al-Luqluq Community Center Society to resume its activities without delay.
3/4 For decades, the centre has delivered vital educational, cultural and sports programmes, particularly for children and youth. This decision risks undermining the indispensable work of Palestinian independent civil society organisations in East Jerusalem.
2/4 The six-month closure of the Burj Al-Luqluq Community Center Society in the Old City of Jerusalem by Israeli authorities is concerning and further constrains Palestinian civic and cultural space in East Jerusalem
We formalised the important partnership of #KingdomNL and @WHO to improve access to medical care for patients from Gaza by strengthening medical capacity in the region.
Grateful for WHO’s commitment to provide essential medical treatment, products, training & logistical support.
