@The_Ryan_Shull To be fair, prior to the last two starts, if I remember right the offspeed run value was pushing great. The problem is, as a starter his fastball run value has always been poor. It’s why he’s better suited for a multi-inning lefty relief role in the mold of Andrew Miller.
@FormerRedbirds You understand they are a game up on the Phillies for the first WC and 2 up total right? (With the tiebreaker over the Padres already). Even the best teams in the league go through rough stretches. If their rough stretch is 11-7 since the cubs series this team is a playoff squad.
@RayMileur1 Realistically, it’s more about where does he fit in? They realistically don’t want to put him in center on a daily basis, and due to his injury history prefer the same with Noot. DH is taken 3 out of every 5 days by Hererra, and the fourth day belongs to one of Crooks/Velasquez.
@TheRedbirdWay@Rinedog1@STLfan006457 They are not calling him up to be a 4th outfielder with a shot at developing into a full time starter. Similar to JJ and Crooks, if he’s up he’s expected to see the field on a daily basis.
@Cardinals_Live_ Winn due to his defense is much more valuable at SS than 3B. At his best, he’s still probably just an average bat offensively. With elite SS defense you can live with that. As we saw the last couple years with Arenado, even with elite 3B defense, it’s hard to stomach there.
@STLfan006457 It used to be the case prior to the MLB buying stake in the major Indy ball leagues. Now it’s more of like a minor league free agent pool
@kyler416 I’m not sure they should either, but seeing with the way they have operated (like pinch hitting for Gorm before sending him down), that’s what seems like is coming next
