Region I inspector, Sherlyn Haney, was #OntheJob checking on the condition of the suppression pool at the Susquehanna nuclear plant during a routine inspection. As a precaution, she was dressed in anti-contamination clothing to protect against any radiological contamination.

Originally, the Atomic Energy Commission promoted civilian uses of nuclear energy and regulated safety. The Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 created the NRC as an independent safety regulator and made the @Energy responsible for promoting nuclear power. #50YearsOfNRC

Decommissioning a nuclear reactor is a long process designed to reduce radiation to safe levels so the site can be released for public use. There are currently 23 reactors in stages of decommissioning, while 11 have completed the process. Full video at: https://t.co/z2NEQwUpUm.

Ray McKinley, a senior manager from Region I, put eyes on the high-pressure coolant injection system while he was #OnTheJob at the Susquehanna nuclear plant. This system helps cool down the reactor core by pumping cooling water quickly and efficiently into the vessel.
