Eng. Andrew Kitaka:

Kampala's roads, drainage and infrastructure had one man behind the technical decisions for almost a decade. Most Kampalans drove on his work every day and never knew his name.

Andrew Kitaka holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Makerere University and an MSc in Transport and Planning from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

He started his career at Kagga & Partners, a consulting engineering firm in Kampala, then moved to the Road Agency Formation Unit (RAFU) at Uganda's Ministry of Works and Transport.

When Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) was formed in 2011, he became its first Director of Engineering and Technical Services. He held that position for nearly a decade - overseeing roads, bridges, drainage systems and major infrastructure upgrades across the city.

He also holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and in Construction Law and Arbitration. In December 2018 he was appointed Acting Executive Director of KCCA. He stepped down in October 2020.

His wife, Dr. Sabrina Kitaka, is a consultant paediatrician at Mulago - one power couple who chose to stay and serve Uganda.

He is a registered engineer with the Engineers Registration Board of Uganda and a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers.

The city you live in was built by engineers like Kitaka.
