The Birth of #2Kings1Mic *Story Time*

Over the years, I built and have grown a brand called Africa Laughs where I’ve hosted different international Artists here in Kampala for a one night only show. It has grown to become a household show with great reviews and attendance. But the costs involved in organising this show have been ridiculous but thank God I had backup from sponsors who believe in the show.

Last year’s edition which happened to be the 7th edition gave me a revelation that gave birth to the #2Kings1Mic show. The show was amazing no doubt but one person who stood out and had the best performance was aUgandan, @DrHilaryOkello .. the other Ugandans on the lineup equally did well, and I looked at how much I paid them compared to the international artists and it was very unfair.

So I made up my mind to try something new, I decided I’ll try out an all Ugandan show and see what happens. The choice of @DrHilaryOkello was made easy by the comparisons I saw on TikTok every time he posted one of his amazing videos. My name would pop up in the comment sections a lot. That’s when I was like this is it.

To my surprise, after performing at @ComedyStoreUG during one of @AlexMuhangi ‘s shows at UMA, we were backstage chilling as comedians and @DrHilaryOkello pulled me on the side and said “Pato, Naye Lwaki tetulola show fembi?” … I almost cried cos that was my plan all along.

At this time I had already tentatively booked Serena for the 8th edition of Africa Laughs. I just told him, “Olopede ku Police coz this is what I’ve been thinking of doing.”

Well as they say, the rest is history and indeed history was made on the 23rd of October 2026 when the #2Kings1Mic brand was born. Special shouts out to @CotildaComedy @okellokelo and @DrMichER for an incredible performance.
