We know you want to know about the #SweetCornFestival -- Del Monte did not respond to that in the e-mailed statement from the PR firm and the Mendota Chamber also has not commented yet. We're working on it.

The public relations firm retained by Del Monte Foods confirmed this is the end for the Mendota plant. The statement said 111 full time and 362 seasonal employees will hang it up at the end of the current season. Many questions still swirling around the closure.

#MendotaPD swore in two new officers tonight. They will start training at South Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in Glen Ellyn next month. Both officers had family and friends on hand to congratulate them including Officer Seth Martin's best friends.
