Despite a small amount of rainfall yesterday, the Forest remains very dry & is on extremely high alert for the risk of wildfire. Even when its not sunny, please remember no BBQs or fires of any kind are currently allowed on the Forest. #BeWildFireAware@NewForestNPA @Hants_fire
This foal was spotted chewing a piece of litter.😡
Litter can harm the local wildlife and livestock. Large bits of plastic can also break up into microplastics which find their way into water courses and oceans.
Please take your rubbish home with you to dispose of responsibly.
Please enjoy the New Forest responsibly this weekend. BBQ’s are not allowed due to the high fire risk. If car parks are full please don’t park on the verge - it’s a protected and important habitat - and a pony’s lunch! @EngNewForest@RealNewForest@NewForestNPA
⚠️⚠️The Forest is now on EXTREMELY high alert for the risk of wildfires⚠️⚠️ Our staff are out across the Forest working with @Hants_fire to help protect this special place. Please support them by leaving BBQs at home & no campfires. @NewForestNPA#Bewildfireaware#picnicsnotBBQs
Parking in front of gates onto the Forest prevents emergency services from fighting a fire. With the Forest on extremely high fire alert please park with care & respect. Please park only in official car parks & do not block gates. @Hants_fire @NewForestNPA https://t.co/um91H4UhF2
Disappointed to see people are still having barbecues despite the fire warnings. Found these abandoned but still smouldering at Balmer Lawn. Others dealt with at Linford Bottom and Cadmans Pool to name a few 😔
⚠️⚠️The New Forest is on extremely high alert for the risk of fires this weekend⚠️⚠️ If you visit us please do NOT bring a BBQ with you or light any kind of fire - these are currently not allowed anywhere on the Forest due to risk of wildfires. @Hants_fire @NewForestNPA
It is important during ground nesting bird season that we stick to the main tracks March-July and keep our dogs on leads. These threatened birds need our help. Spending less time on the open habitat where possible and walking in the woodlands can help too. #stayonthetracks
Did you know that from spring until late summer the New Forest is one of the UK’s top breeding spots for some very special wildlife? Ground-nesting birds, like Curlews & Nightjars, are incredibly well camouflaged as they nest at ground level on heaths & open areas of the Forest.
Like droplets if sunlight even when the clouds are grey, just picture the daffodils nodding along in the warm spring breeze. Tag someone below who you think could do with a ray of sunshine today.
@pmansf77 @RealNewForest @NewForestCops @HantsPolRural@NewForestNPA@EngNewForest@hantsconnect If the Forest is accessible on foot from your home then it is a fantastic place to exercise. We are urging people not to travel at this time and are closing car parks to help prevent the further spread of coronavirus.
We urgently request people not to travel to the New Forest and instead to stay at home and observe social distancing. It is not safe to park on roadsides as this blocks emergency access, damages vegetation and puts livestock at greater risk. @RealNewForest@NewForestNPA
@pmansf77 @NewForestNPA@EngNewForest We have closed our car parks to help restrict the spread of this virus. We encourage everyone to observe social distancing and not to travel: https://t.co/UOovQbHLY9
We are closing our car parks to help stop the spread of coronavirus. Please help us to protect the New Forest SSSI by not parking on verges or accross gateways. This causes irreversible damage to the habitat, reduces grazing and blocks vital access. @NewForestNPA@EngNewForest
@OzoneVibe@newforestranger@NewForestNPA@EngNewForest We agree, it is an unprecedented time so everything is still being worked out. All we can do at this time is work together to discourage people from travelling and adhere to social distancing as guided by the government.
