Fast fact: Affinity fraud is a common investment scam amongst older adults. That’s when fraudsters target tight-knit communities. Once relationships are made, fraudsters rely on the senior not to question their sales pitch because of the established and trusted relationship.
The SEC today charged Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang for their roles in a multiyear scheme to defraud equity investors in the crypto trading platform FTX. Ellison and Wang are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
