I am Carl Les leader of North Yorkshire Council, England's third largest unitary council. I want to keep you up to date with my work on behalf of the county.
@tomriordan Tom, well done! One positive thing to come out of the crisis is that we have shrunk distances whilst minimising carbon, as you have proved. It was good to have a senior person from our sector in the heart of Govt. It works best when local and central Govt work together.
@BenHouchen A vibrant and growing Tees Valley economy is also good for the north of our county. Shows what can happen with an energetic Mayor delivering on promises.
@StnCdrLeeming@RiponDean@Jacob_The_Pilot Proud and pleased to have lived and worked all my life beside Royal Air Force Leeming, a huge part of North Yorkshire’s life and the nation’s security. Happy 80th Birthday!
@Kerfoil@NorthYorksFire @NYFRSABrodie @SMHambleton1 How exciting for Cadet Samuel, not only being the appointee of the High Sheriff, but uniquely being appointed in an unprecedented way by an electonic link. What a double memory for the future! Congratulations!
@NorthNottsBC @MicroBizGirl Good news, thank you and well done! The North Yorkshire economy is dominated by many small businesses. They deserve all the support they can get in these unprecedented times.
@kevinhollinrake This looks very good, helping to plug an unintended gap in support for some hospitality businesses. Well done the letter @Welcome2Yorks@JamesMason_78 and for the Chancellor @RishiSunak for listening and acting.
@StnCdrLeeming@Ian_Gale@RoyalAirForce@RAF_Leeming Will look forward to it. In earlier days we Leeming lads walked down the old A1 to Londonderry, down a little lane and if the traffic light wasn’t showing red we just walked across the runway!
@StnCdrLeeming@Ian_Gale@RoyalAirForce@RAF_Leeming Congratulations RAF Leeming a major part of North Yorkshire’s economy and life in all those years, and a big part of my life growing up in Leeming village and later providing beds to visiting personnel. Good memories, Javelins, Jet Provosts, Tornadoes, Typhoons and Red Arrows
@BernardHiggin12 Hi, did you get my earlier tweet, I can’t see it. It was just to say I don’t know the criteria at all. Is it for a whole list of things as you set out, or for something special like Wooton Bassett? Anyway, I’m supportive, whatever the reason needs to be!
@BernardHiggin12 If I remember it was when he was Mayor, last year or year before? I think it was after the Queen gave the title to Wootton Bassett for roadside tribute to fallen on return from Afghanistan. I’m sure he would help you understand his submission. Is it for lots or something special?
@sustainablyhgte@Harrogatebc One thing is certain, post Covid will be very different than before. Please share with me your vision for a greener, fairer economy and how you think we could achieve quieter and safer roads.
@Bewildered_Dad Let me guess. Turntable in the Main Hall of the National Railway Museum in York. Impressive amount of rolling stock being manoeuvred. When it’s all over come and visit the many heritage railways we have in Yorkshire, especially one I know well in Leeming Bar @WensleydaleRail .
@RobertJenrick This is as true as it is welcome, thank you Secretary of State. Working together with Government and with all our valued partners we will get through this and continue to serve and support our communities.
