@garrett_wolf3@overbystockfarm Ya you'll be fine. I've seeded into a lot more of a mess. Was a bit uneven emerging but for silage that's hardly a concern.
One of our home raised herdsires that i ruined by doing everything wrong during his development (according to Twitter experts). He sure seems to be doing fine as breeding is winding down.
@mbacowboy@garrett_wolf3 For sure and I'm not arguing that fact. Mostly playing devils advocate to the "get off your ass" crowd. I'm sure you aren't sipping Margheritas while watching calves die π.
@garrett_wolf3@mbacowboy The argument could be made that it's worth helping to get her to raise this calf and then ship her vs a dead one. But I'm all for culling every cow/calf that requires assistance.
@knd8700@GenexCanadaBeef Didn't get any heifers the first year. Have a couple yearlings we bred this year. Similar to the bulls, lots of growth but maybe a bit lighter muscled than I prefer.
@garrett_wolf3 No. We freeze brand the bulls we sell. Customers love it and it's good advertising/brand recognition (pun intended). Put numbers on the hip this year too for them. We also brand cows for community pasture.
