While investigating a shot spotter Sgt. Liguori, P.O.’s Rahman, Barboza,and Kelly noticed a firearm being pointed at them from a building window. These brave cops took cover and with help from @NYPDPSA2 and @NYPDSpecialops the perpetrator was apprehended. Amazing work all around!

Samuel Battle, know to many as “Big Sam,” became NYC’s first black police officer in 1911. He went on to become sergeant in 1926, lieutenant in 1935 &, ultimately, New York City Parole Commissioner in 1941.

We mourn the death of Larry Byrne, our former Deputy Commissioner for Legal Matters, who passed away Sunday evening. The Byrne family has deep ties to policing in NYC, his father was a cop, & his brother, Edward Byrne, was tragically assassinated in the line of duty in 1988.

Thanks to PO Molinet and PO Simicich swift actions and the use of Department technology they assisted in saving the life of a baby. The Officers responded quickly to the call and performed chest compressions while rushing the baby to the hospital safely. Great Work #itswhatwedo
