Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are teaming up to bring the story of Mansa Musa, the richest man in history, to the big screen.
Mansa Musa, ruler of the Mali Empire from 1312 to 1337, is remembered as one of the wealthiest and most powerful leaders in world history. His kingdom sat on vast gold reserves, giving him influence that stretched far beyond West Africa. He's most famous for his extravagant pilgrimage to Mecca, where he traveled with a massive caravan and distributed so much gold in cities like Cairo that he reportedly caused inflation for years. Under his leadership, cities such as Timbuktu flourished into major centers of learning, culture, and trade, with libraries and mosques that attracted scholars from across the Islamic world. Mansa Musa's legacy endures as a symbol of Africa's historical wealth, intellectual accomplishments, and global impact.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS FAMILY RAISES QUESTIONS AFTER TEEN SHOT INSIDE SOUTHEAST D.C. GROUP HOME 🚨
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A family is demanding answers after a 17-year-old was shot inside a Southeast D.C. youth group home Wednesday night while under government supervision.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:39 p.m. to the 4300 block of E Street SE, where they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was conscious and breathing and was transported by DC Fire and EMS to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Information shared with KillmoeNews by the victim’s family identifies the facility as Umbrella Therapeutic Services–Youth.
The family alleges the teen had recently been released from secure juvenile custody and was staying at the group home when armed men entered the facility through a window and opened fire. They say the teen was shot twice in the back and that the gun reportedly malfunctioned while it was pointed at his face.
The family further alleges that staff members failed to intervene during the attack and did not provide adequate assistance afterward as the teen pleaded to be taken to the hospital.
“We want people to know it is unsafe,” a family member told KillmoeNews. “This isn’t just about our family. It could happen to someone else’s child.”
KillmoeNews has not independently verified the family’s allegations, and MPD has not confirmed those details. Police have not released any suspect information or said whether the shooting was targeted.
As detectives continue their investigation, the family says they hope what happened to their loved one leads to greater oversight and accountability for facilities responsible for the care and safety of vulnerable youth.
Everybody looks good also because there’s one major factor: when you’re welcoming Black people to an event, you need to know how to light Black skin properly. The lighting, the brown backdrop, everything was designed to complement black skin.

"Donald Trump is a narcissist who runs a country built on fear and division, trampling over democratic values; you either stand for equality and the truth, or you are part of this climate of hate."
I want people to notice how a lot of these are done naturally by children. Especially the arm swings (as is done when skipping, and some others are done when stimming). Turns out longevity is connected to channeling the mannerisms of the inner child. How cool!

Nia Long opens up about the time Prince shot his shot with her before she was even famous, but she REJECTED him because she didn’t realize it was Prince 😮👀
Years later, Nia met him again after becoming an actress, but she was surprised that he was no longer interested in her 🤣
“He grabbed my hand. Then we got to the car and my hating a** girlfriend at the time goes ‘Girl you know that was Prince?,’ I go ‘Why didn’t you tell me before I left the building??’… If I knew it was Prince, I would have turned around and said ‘Hello.’”
Some people spent so much of their lives trying to survive that they never got the chance to learn how to swim, speak a foreign language, play an instrument, travel, or simply explore life beyond work and responsibilities. That’s a side of poverty we rarely talk about.
Mary and Emily Edmonson were formerly enslaved sisters who became prominent abolitionist figures after surviving the a 1848 escape on a ship called Pearl, the largest attempted mass escape by enslaved people in U.S. history. Captured and nearly sold into sexual slavery in New Orleans as “fancy girls,” they were freed through abolitionist fundraising. They later became powerful symbols of slavery’s gendered violence, speaking publicly, advocating for abolition, and studying at Oberlin College, illustrating how black women shaped 19-century reform movements. In the this daguerreotype taken shortly after they gained their freedom, we see the sisters dressed in matching printed gowns with white cuffs and collars, embodying mid-19-century ideals of respectability and refinement. https://t.co/1EsZmim7kH
