I will always DNF the so-called "smart" detectives who are manipulated by the writer for the sake of writing concerns, to do dumb things. I wonder how many other readers do the same, feeling disappointed in what could have been a new favorite character/series.
Sorry for ranting.
I just DNF'd a mystery that I was looking forward to reading. The concept was intriguing, the writing was good, the setting was unusual, and it had a tangible sense of mystery that stuck with me even when I had to stop reading for some reason and made me eager to get back to it
Who are the timeless detectives? Poirot, Miss Marple, Wimsey, Nancy Drew, Sherlock Holmes etc. Why are they timeless, delighting generation after generation of mystery readers? Because they're smart. They have setbacks, but not from repeated, avoidable dumb actions. I'm sorry but
@YoungJayCub@Dam75485355@ezondo@timecaptales@fasc1nate They're not really comparable, though. Annapurna doesn't see anywhere near the traffic Everest does. Everest sees 800 attempts every year. Annapurna has less than 400 in the entire time from it's first ascent in 1950 till now.
