- The US refused aid to Ukraine full stop.
- "You want it, buy it" but when Ukraine says "OK" they refuse to sell to Ukraine.
- European countries decide to buy it for Ukraine instead.
- The US (if this is true) gets $750 million through PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) but intends to spend it to "aid" themselves, the richest and the most militarized motherfuckers on Earth, to help with their retarded Iran war.
@InsiderWire Comprehensive eye exams are generally recommended every 1–2 years, depending on age, risk factors, and whether corrective lenses are worn.
The US:
Lacks basic decency to even name the attacker (russia), nevermind condem the attack.
Vague peacenik nonsense.
The UK:
Names the perpetrator, clearly condemns the war crime and highlights that russian cruelty must end, instead of spouting vague peacenik nonsense.
@SteveLovesAmmo I'm sure the tariffs that missed Russia completely are gonna reduce the North Korean slaves they buy after we have no better alternative than to import soberian lumber even though Canada is right fuckin there.
As predicted, the Alien Enemies Act deportations have resulted in unlawful and outrageous removals. The government now admits that they deported someone who was legally granted withholding of removal even though they were "aware of his protection from removal."
Full post is below! But this week gave us the perfect trifecta of a context-dominated economy and I actually think some unrelated things could be illustrative of that:
(1) The signal group chat leak
(2) The studio ghibli AI trend
(3) The Abundance discourse around Ezra and Derek's book where people don't really engage in what's being said, but rather the context around how it's said
In so many cases, HOW information was shared mattered more than WHAT was actually shared. We're living in an age of a version of Veblen's conspicuous consumption, but I think it's more conspicuous contextualization where value derives not from the content itself but from who frames it, where it appears, and how it's positioned - the context! None of this is really new - it's "that's my buddy Joe Rogan, he says this, therefore that's true". It's also why Elon bought this site, because controlling distribution and amplification now matters as much (if not more!) than creating the message itself.
It forces us to reckon with context literacy (why and how is this information being framed and targeted) as well as content literacy (is this information true or false) - and we also need to reckon with new economic value. That’s why Trump’s tariffs, the chat, Klein and Thompson’s ideas, and Miyazaki’s art style all end up overshadowed by questions of when and where they appear, who is sharing them, and how they’re spun.
In our hyper-digital age, how information is framed often matters more than the substance of that information itself. Link in next post! Enjoy!
You spray painted a tesla lot because a billionaire is committing a hostile takeover of the government. I attacked the retail section in a Target store because I saw a bulge in a swimsuit. We are not the same.
