These photos should become a symbol of propaganda worldwide. One might think it’s an ironic joke, a mockery of lies, if only it weren’t the truth. How symbolic it is. If I were to write a book on how propaganda works or on the manipulation of history, I would put these photos on the cover.

During the Polish president's speech about the Volhynia tragedy, the graves of Ukrainians killed by Poles were covered with a camouflage net...

Do you realize the sheer nonsense of this anti-Ukrainian propaganda? Some view it as the desecration of graves, others point out how stark the contrast is between the well-kept Polish graves and the destroyed Ukrainian ones, but look deeper into the very symbolism of what is happening. A tragedy occurred for which both sides bear responsibility, yet one side blames the other, falsifies data, builds a political campaign around it, and blocks Ukraine’s EU accession until the other side takes all the blame and accepts the falsifications. And there he stands, giving a speech against the backdrop of facts—in the form of graves that contradict his lies—and covers these facts with a camouflage net because the truth is inconvenient...

Yet, look at how much hatred, chauvinism, and modern-day nazism this propaganda has birthed. Just today, I saw a recent video of adult Poles attacking a little girl—a Ukrainian refugee who fled the war but doesn't even feel safe in Poland because the Russian claws have reached there too. Isn't it time to stop this politics of hatred? It wouldn't even exist if the people didn't tolerate it. In this case, it is entirely fair to question the Polish public, because if Poles had said a resounding "No" to this policy by tanking the politicians' approval ratings and protesting against it, this wouldn't be happening—politicians would be terrified for their ratings.

Чи зупинить ця фотографія війну? Найімовірніше, ні. Але я вірю, що світ має бачити правду.
