It was Summer time at SickKids today!
Olympic Gold Medallist @summermcintoshh stopped by for Bingo (Olympics-themed, of course)!
The visit was broadcast to patient rooms on SickKids' The SKOOP Channel 41, so patients who couldn't make it in person could still watch and play.
I will go to extreme lengths not to walk or travel with a colleague or acquaintance who happens to be going to the same place as me. I will march for miles in the wrong direction, I will get on a random bus without checking the destination, I will miss my train on purpose and wait 45 minutes for the next one. Please do not say “oh I’m going that way too”, once you’ve blurted that out it’s too late, the toothpaste is out of the tube. I do not want to chat to you for an hour, and, I assure you, you do not want to chat to me, for I have nothing to say. Save yourself, save us both, and don’t ever leave a building at the same time as me, I beg.

Let others know we are here and every day we educate about the history of Auschwitz.
You can all help us preserve memory.
During my visit to Fort Frances yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the office of the Couchiching First Nation Band, where I met Chief Brian Perrault. When Chief Perrault asked why I came to their office, I explained that I wanted to introduce myself and build a connection as a settler on their land, acknowledging that this is Indigenous land and paying my respects. I also expressed my belief that it's important to build better cross-cultural bridges between people from different cultures.
The chief invited me to the Band office's meeting room, where he shared wonderful words of wisdom with me about the philosophy and ideas of their First Nations and Ojibwe beliefs. He spoke about how they believe that there's a spirit in everything, including humans, animals, trees, rivers, lakes, and even rocks, and how their culture often performs different ceremonies to acknowledge these spirits and offer sage and tobacco for their prayers. I shared with him that our Sikh culture believes in many similar things, such as keeping nature in its supreme place. It was wonderful to see how much we have in common. Learning and sharing can actually bring us closer.
Chief Perrault also shared his knowledge about the region, including that there are 28 First Nations in the vast area, and taught me how to say greetings in Ojibwemowin, his native language. I left feeling grateful for the opportunity to meet with the chief and learn about his culture and beliefs.
It is important for all of us to take the initiative and introduce ourselves to those around us. This is especially true when it comes to learning about other cultures, which can be difficult if we don't take the time to get to know one another. As a result, we may find ourselves making assumptions about others, leading to divisions and misunderstandings. However, by making the effort to introduce ourselves, we not only get to know others, but we also share our own cultural heritage and get a chance to learn about the richness of other cultures. It fosters appreciation for each other, and is a great way to bring people closer together and foster a sense of unity. Ultimately, at the heart of every culture is the desire to spread love and peace, and by taking steps to learn about and appreciate other cultures, we can help to make the world a better, more harmonious place.
Thank you, Chief Perrault, for sharing such wonderful aspects of your culture and Nation.

Ok looks like the Titanic/Titan submarine imploded & killed its billionaire occupants instantly, rather than a fate of drawn-out suffering.
NOW are we allowed to highlight the hypocritical double standards afforded to the hundreds of migrants who WERE left to drown in agony? 🧵
In a meeting with the Star’s editorial board Friday, Toronto mayoral candidate Mitzie Hunter contrasted her detailed 70-page election platform with the promises of Olivia Chow, who rivals accuse of being short on specifics. https://t.co/bEd9HGgB9O
Sometimes it's clear that commitment just doesn't match rhetoric. Prime example: How does his promise of 5 hours of free TTC for seniors on a Monday, between 10 and 3 only, make a real difference?
In my fully costed plan, seniors will ride for free on the TTC every hour that it is open. So will Wheel Trans users.
That's how we can make a real difference. #TOpoli
My comprehensive plan for a better city is fully-funded and ready to roll!
Here's what it includes:
✅ Building MORE affordable housing, FASTER than any other candidate
✅ Below-market housing options for renters & buyers
✅ Affordable TTC: Seniors & Wheel Trans users ride free
✅ Reversing TTC fare hikes & service cuts
✅ Increased investment in city services: Fixing pot holes, improving snow clearance, and maintaining parks effectively
Toronto, we’re at a critical turning point. The city we love is on the edge of decline. We need to drive Toronto's revival. I just released my fully-costed platform to make it happen: It's time for a city that works for everyone.
Let’s go through six priorities to #FixTheSix:
