Draru played a big part in us finally getting the domestic violence bill tabled and passed in parliament. This case shed light on how even "big men" can lose because of domestic violence so now everyone was willing to listen and read the bill. 1/

Sylvia Tamale was born in 1962. She studied at Budo Junior School (1969-1975), Gayaza High School (1976-1982), and then joined Makerere University in 1982 where she completed her Bachelor of Laws degree with honours.

In 1988, she completed a Master of Laws degree at Harvard University. In 1989, she received a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center and was awarded the Uganda Law Society's prize for the best student in the bar course.
