When you permit habits, you promote them;
When you allow behaviours, you encourage them;
When you condone actions, you own them;
When you tolerate average, you deserve average!

What people think football coaching is…
1. Shouting tactical instructions from the sideline.
2. Lifting trophies with your best players.
3. Designing world-class sessions.
Sounds simple, right?
Here’s the reality:
(Most won’t see this)
1. Training on a 1/4 pitch because space is tight (again).
2. Fighting for a “small” player who’s ahead technically.
3. Reassuring parents that their child is progressing.
4. Being the constant emotional buffer for players.
5. Explaining the same concept 15 different ways.
6. Admin at 11pm when everyone else is asleep.
7. Going home thinking…”Am I doing enough!”
8. Dealing with the “hidden backstabbing”
The senior game is not academy football.
And coaching isn’t believing you are “sideline Pep”.
It’s problem-solving.
It’s ongoing mentorship.
It’s care, commitment, and consistency.
If you’re in it, you know what I’m talking about.
Just starting out? Social media highlight reels are misleading.
Either way, stay mindful.
P.S. “Have you experienced one of the 8 realities?"
I’ve shared a lot this month about:
🧱 Off-season development
🎯 Recruitment strategy
📈 Skill transfer
🧠 Role clarity
🗣️ Communication
Let’s flip it now:

Let’s flip it now:
What’s one thing you’re wrestling with as a coach, trainer, or player right now?
Could be:
– A tricky player situation
– A culture shift you’re trying to lead
– A workout problem
– A communication block
– Something you can’t quite name yet
I've watched a ton of highlight tapes this summer
But evaluating a player requires looking past the highlight tape and peeling back layers
Here's my process:

After going through the above, I prepare a report for our Head Coach with the players profile, but answering a key question:
Can we coach this player for the next nine months?
The off-season is full of unseen conversations
And some of the most important ones happen with parents
Not about minutes
Not about scholarships
Not about exposure
But about growth. . .

Passing on a skilled recruit means that he may be picked up by another team in your league - they may hurt you twice or three times in a season
Picking up a bad recruit will hurt you everyday - in practice, in the weight room, in the locker room and when the lights are on
These things don't show up on Synergy
But all of it translates
Because when it comes to a person's character:
How you do anything is how you’ll do everything, especially when the lights are on.
