The PIDE’s Centre for Agriculture, Climate Change and Rural Economy (CACCRE) recently convened a high-level roundtable, bringing together leading experts in climate, agriculture, disaster risk management, and the rural ,from NDMA (@ndmapk), PMD (@pmdgov), MPDSI (@PlanComPakistan), NUTECH (@NUTechPak), NUST (@OfficialNUST), GIZ, academia, and the private sector, to address a pressing challenge: translating climate forecasts into timely policy action.
In the dialogue, “𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐩𝐮𝐭: 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝," CACCRE presented six policy pathways — from anticipatory finance and climate-smart water governance to agricultural insurance and integrated institutional coordination. The roundtable concluded that timely investment, stronger institutions, and informed local action can prevent climate hazards from repeatedly becoming national economic disasters.
