UUID v4 = random. Good default.
UUID v7 = timestamp first, so new IDs sort in order. Easier on database indexes (RFC 9562).

As a primary key, store it as UUID/binary (16 bytes), not 36-char text.

Alt text tip: describe the image like you would on a phone call.

"Red trail running shoe, side view" beats "shoe" or "IMG_2041.jpg".

Decorative images get alt="" so screen readers skip them.

We checked the robots.txt of the top 1,000 websites against 16 AI crawlers.

20.9% block at least one. Only 2% block all 16.

70 of 138 sites that block GPTBot still allow OAI-SearchBot. Training and search are separate bots.

A missing page that shows "not found" but returns 200 OK is a soft 404. Google may keep crawling it.
Fix:
- Gone for good → 404 or 410
- Moved → 301
- Don't redirect every dead URL to the homepage

"Your connection is not private" sends visitors away. Usual causes:

- Expired: renew it, turn on auto-renew
- Name mismatch: cover www too
- Fails in apps: install the full chain
- No padlock: mixed content (http:// files)

Moving a page? Ask: will I ever want the old URL back in Google? No → 301. Yes → 302.
And don't send every deleted page to the homepage. Google often treats that as a soft 404.

Your "page not found" page might be telling Google everything is fine. If it returns 200 instead of 404, that's a soft 404, and junk URLs stay indexed.
