Agather Atuhaire, an Ugandan human rights defender and @OsloFF 2024 keynote speaker, was RACIALLY profiled at Amsterdam’s @Schiphol airport. Officers of the @Marechaussee seized her valid Ugandan passport without cause, held her for 30+ minutes in silence while her flight to Nairobi departed, and offered no apology, only a replacement flight 24 hours later.

When asked what was wrong with her passport, the answer was nothing. They’d simply “never seen that type.” The incident triggered a full trauma response in a survivor of illegal detention and torture in Tanzania in May 2025.

@MinisterieJenV oversees the @Marechaussee, @KLM operated the terminal where she was left collapsed on the floor with no passenger welfare response. The @2eKamertweets should be demanding answers - this is racial profiling, and it has consequences.

The Dutch government / @DutchMFA owes a direct answer on what profiling criteria justified this.

In November 2025, The Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice (@LantosFndn ), the Human Rights Foundation (@HRF ) and Freedom Now (@freedomnoworg ) submitted an individual complaint to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, asking it to declare Ms Ingabire's detention to be arbitrary and in violation of international law.

During the Oslo Freedom Forum, I had the privilege of meeting the courageous children of Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, recipient of Liberal International’s Prize for Freedom.

Victoire is a woman of unbreakable strength. She has paid the price of persecution and years of sacrifice for daring to dream of a free, reconciled, and democratic Rwanda. She has spent more than nine years in prison in her own country, from 2010 to 2018 and again since June 2025.

Listening to her children speak about their mother, with both deep concern and boundless pride, brought to mind the sacrifice of thousands upon thousands of Venezuelan families. In their eyes, I saw the same expression I have seen in my own children, and in the children of every political prisoner and every exile from our homeland. As I embraced them, I conveyed the strength of all Venezuelan mothers.

Our struggle is universal. No matter the language or the distance, the longing for freedom is the same.

Dear Remy and Rist, your mother is not only a heroine for Rwanda, but an inspiration to all those around the world who confront tyranny with courage and dignity.

I carry your testimonies with me, engraved in my heart. They are proof that the love and example of a mother or father who fights for justice are forces that no prison can ever contain.

For a free Venezuela and a free Rwanda!

At the @OsloFF, I joined the @WLCongress on stage - exiles, dissidents and survivors from every continent, standing together.

The logic is simple: dictatorships collaborate to surveil, smear and silence us across borders. So we organise across borders to fight back.

Regimes spend billions discrediting people like the ones beside me on this stage. Sit with that number - then imagine what they spend repressing the citizens trapped inside their borders, with no platform and no exit.

This isn’t a fringe problem. Per @HRF’s Tyranny Tracker, 75% of humanity now lives under authoritarian rule. We are the majority’s voice, not a minority’s complaint.

In January 2026, the Bitcoin Development Fund announced 1.3 billion sats deployed across 22 projects worldwide. In April 2026, it announced another 1.5 billion sats across 26 projects. Cumulatively, BDF has now deployed $11.8 million to 367 projects across 68 countries since 2020. A glance at the two most recent rounds tells you everything about what has happened to the Fund’s African footprint under @femilonge's stewardship.

Félicien Kabuga, the man indicted for bankrolling the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, for importing the machetes, for running the radio station that called Tutsi “inyenzi” and directed the killers died yesterday in @UN detention at 93, never convicted of a single charge. Arrested in 2020 after 26 years sheltered across Switzerland, Kenya, and France, he arrived in The Hague already in cognitive decline. By 2023 he was ruled unfit to stand trial.

I discussed exactly this trajectory on @AsymmetricalH, that the only legal endpoint available was no competency, no trial, no verdict, death in legal innocence. That is what happened. For survivors of the genocide, Kabuga’s death is not closure. It is the system delivering, with bureaucratic precision, the permanent impossibility of it.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
