The @BameOuh event was supported by @OxHospCharity and featured Kwame Kwei-Armah as keynote speaker.
There was a great mix of a discussion panel, a webinar, a cultural performance, and delicious refreshments.
We recently had a half-day conference to mark Black History Month.
Our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Staff Network @BameOuh held the event to learn, share, and honour the achievements and contributions of the Black community at OUH and in broader society.
Happy International Day of the Midwife!! I feel very lucky to count so many midwives amongst my friends, family and colleagues. Celebrating them tonight from labour ward 🥰
What a day! Truly an honour to speak at this event today. Thank you @EileenDudley10 and the team at @HealthInnovOx for putting together such an interesting programme - I’ve learnt a lot!
Was sad to miss some of the fab sessions at the @HealthInnovOx Shared Learning Event today but some brilliant feedback for the birth trauma session lead by @NadiaMTucker and @busy_bumble_bee. Thank you @EileenDudley10 for keeping these important flames burning 🔥
Your kindness can kill a bumblebee 💔
📢 Please share! Bumblebee queens are starting to emerge from hibernation. British weather isn’t always ideal and people with the best intentions can cause more harm good. Let’s change that.

In 19th century Europe, C-sections were performed only in direst need and maternal mortality was very high. At the same time in Africa, indigenous people were performing the operation successfully saving both. Have a #BlackHistoryMonth thread on Banyoro obstetric surgery.
