14 year old Palestinian teenager, Ahmed Ilyad Al-Astal passed away after battling cancer. He had finally been moved to Jordan for cancer treatment, but it was too late for him as the cancer had already spread in his body.

Not only has the rate of cancer amongst the young skyrocketed in the Gaza Strip due to the deadly fumes of explosives used in the bombardment, but due to the widespread destruction of its healthcare system by the occupation, there is limited treatment options available there.

For me, as a Palestinian from Gaza who survived the ongoing genocide, when I look at the rubble of homes on Google Maps, I am not seeing only the remains of buildings, which from far look like a decaying wall.

I am seeing the remains of people whose bodies were crushed beneath walls and ceilings they painted with their own hands.

I see children’s toys. Books. Backpacks. Coloring pencils. An unfinished meal. Blankets. Shoes. Photo frames of grandparents whose grandchildren never met. An old key to a home in Yaffa or Haifa.

Haaretz is reporting that Israel's Attorney General, Gali Baharv-Miara, has instructed that the bidding period for the first tranche of tenders for the construction of 1,234 units at the doomsday settlement of E-1 be delayed for a month, that is, until after the October 27 elections.

The bidding period has been extended for a month beyond the current October 19 end date.

It is important to recall that if bids are to be submitted and contracts awarded (which was scheduled for October 19), E-1 would have reached the point of no return and construction would become inevitable.

That date is now deferred.
