28 May 1998 was a defining moment in our national history - a day when Pakistan demonstrated to the world that it would never compromise on its sovereignty, security, dignity, or right to self-defence.
As we commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer today, we pay glowing tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, and to Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, whose bold, courageous, and resolute leadership in May 1998 transformed that vision into reality despite immense international pressure.
We also honour Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, Dr. Samar Mubarakmand and the countless brilliant scientists, engineers, valiant armed forces personnel, and all those associated with the nuclear programme, whose dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment made Pakistan’s defence invincible.
Youm-e-Takbeer remains a symbol of national unity, unwavering resolve, and the collective strength of all elements of national power in safeguarding Pakistan’s independence while ensuring peace and strategic stability in the region.
On this historic day, let us renew our pledge to build a strong, prosperous, united, and self-reliant Pakistan founded on faith, unity, and discipline.

Exchanged warm Eid ul-Adha greetings with my dear brother, President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, during a most cordial telephone conversation this evening.
President Pezeshkian graciously appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for peace in the region and acknowledged the important role played by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, alongside the support of brotherly countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye.
I reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people of Iran over the tragic loss of precious lives during the current crisis and emphasized that Pakistan will always stand by Iran as a sincere friend and neighbour.
I expressed hope that the ongoing peace efforts would soon lead to an enduring agreement, paving the way for regional stability, prosperity and cooperation.
We agreed to remain in close coordination in pursuit of lasting peace in the region.

Welcome the Agreement finalized late last night in Doha. It is the first step in the right direction.
Deeply appreciate the constructive role played by brotherly Qatar and Turkiye.
We look forward to the establishment of a concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanism, in the next meeting to be hosted by Turkiye, to address the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghan soil towards Pakistan. It is important to put all efforts in place to prevent any further loss of lives.
A high-level delegation from Pakistan, led by our Minister of Defence, will hold discussions with representatives of the Afghan Taliban in Doha today. The talks will focus on immediate measures to end cross-border terrorism against Pakistan emanating from Afghanistan and restore peace and stability along the Pak-Afghan border.
Pakistan does not seek escalation but urges the Afghan Taliban authorities to honour their commitments to the international community and address Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns by taking verifiable action against terrorist entities, including the FAK/TTP and FAH/BLA.
Pakistan appreciates the mediation efforts of Qatar and hopes these discussions contribute to peace and stability in the region.
On this Foreign Service of Pakistan Day, we celebrate the enduring legacy of our diplomats, both past and present. With gratitude, we honor their steadfast dedication and vision, which continue to champion and protect Pakistan’s interests worldwide.

With the Grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan has been elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2026-28 with an overwhelming majority.
My profound gratitude to all UN Member States for their support!
Pakistan's election is a recognition of its strong credentials and contributions in strengthening the global human rights framework.
Pakistan reiterates its commitment to work with the international community
on the basis of TRUCE: tolerance, respect, universality, consensus-building, and engagement.
Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch gave a comprehensive briefing to resident ambassadors in Islamabad on the recent developments along the Pak-Afghan border. She underscored Pakistan's legitimate security concerns and its unwavering resolve to protect its territorial integrity and national security.
We have noted the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding Pakistan's internal affairs.
We strongly encourage the Afghan spokesperson to prioritize issues pertinent to Afghanistan and refrain from commenting on matters outside their jurisdiction.
The principle of non-interference in matters of other countries should be adhered to as per international diplomatic norms. Pakistan does not require outside advice on its internal matters.
We also expect the Taliban Regime to abide by its obligations and promises made to the international community during Doha Process.
The Taliban regime should not allow its land to be used for terrorism against other countries. Besides, the regime should focus on formation of an inclusive and truly representative government, instead of engaging in baseless propaganda.

Pakistan raises its concerns on the elements of India-Afghanistan Joint Statement and Remarks by Afghan Acting Foreign Minister in India

Deeply concerned over the developments on Pak-Afghan border. Unprovoked firing and raids along Pak-Afghan border by the Taliban Government is a serious provocation. Pakistan's befitting response and strikes are against Taliban infrastructure and to neutralize Fitna-e-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan terrorist elements operating from Afghan soil.
Our defensive response is not targeted towards peace loving Afghan civilian population. Unlike Taliban Forces, we are exercising extreme caution in our defensive responses to avoid loss of civilian lives.
We expect Taliban Government to take concrete measures against terrorist elements and their perpetrators that wish to derail Pak-Afghan relations.
Pakistan will take all possible measures to defend its own territory, sovereignty and its people.
Highly grateful to H.E. President Xi Jinping for his powerful message of support and solidarity with Pakistan on the occasion of the completion of the Decade of CPEC. His emphasis on building CPEC into "an exemplary project of high quality Belt and Road Cooperation" reflects his commitment to the well-being of the people of Pakistan.
Indeed, CPEC has achieved many milestones over the course of last ten years in the fields of high quality infrastructure, energy, and socio-economic growth. As the flagship project of BRI, CPEC matured into a story of transformation under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan is ready to share this story with our friends and partners around the world.
We will never be able to thank President Xi Jinping enough for his singular contribution to taking the China-Pakistan Strategic Cooperative Partnership to new heights.
I am determined to work with more energy and passion to make the second phase of CPEC a resounding success.
Alhamdulillah, I am pleased to announce that Pakistan has reached a Staff-Level Agreement with the IMF on a nine-month US$3 billion Stand-By Arrangement. This Arrangement will help strengthen Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves, enable Pakistan to achieve economic stability, and put the country on the path of sustainable economic growth, Insha’Allah. I would like to appreciate the efforts and hard work of Finance Minister @MIshaqDar50 and his team at the Ministry of Finance for achieving this outcome. I would also like to thank MD IMF @KGeorgieva and her team at the IMF for their cooperation and collaboration, especially during the course of last week.
On 72nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic anniversary between Pakistan and China, we pay tribute to our special friendship that has been our pride for all these years, and has solidified today into an iron brotherhood.
