Tfw you fire up this bad boy and know it's gonna be the most productive couple weeks ahead (again). About 1 year ago my prediction was right, I think I used it 2-3 weeks and then gave up. It's a naughty tool. LET'S GO https://t.co/bYUeFKdKXO
@algobaker Heck yeah pal! I'm on a solid gym streak too. Wanna start a bet? Who logs more days in a period of month wins 100€. If we both log same nr of days, @experilearning pays us both
Today, I thank the brain for all the emotions. Even frustration, dissatisfaction, anger.. It's all just helpful guidance, like signs where to move and what to change. Thanks brain. It's not bad, it's good.
So I hit 30 this year. 10 years ago I had no concern for time and suddenly I'm aware of it being limited? 🤯 Not sure if that's good or bad... I don't like it
@experilearning Same thing brother. I refuse to grow old with nice potential and ideas without ever actually getting past the tinkering phase. It's time to get real and build skillset for long term dedication.
Chunking things makes life so much more serene. It's a well-known technique, but I never appreciated enough how much it calms your mind against disjointed uncertainty. (Not chaos of todos, but off-loaded "financial responsibilities", "emails" etc.)
@rajlearns When I was addicted to gambling it was such a thrill to load up balance and spin slots all night, but also knew it was the worst decision I could make with my last pennies
@rajlearns I started liking sleep a lot more when I started framing it as me engaging in the healing and restoration process. Instead of just being still I use visualization to try to make it a really good session of healing and cleaning my body.
@rajlearns Me too pal. I was conditioned to supress facial expressions in adolescence, it's been tough to improve the default emotionless face. I think ppl with this problem can reduce the most creepiness by calming their eyes instead of having the dead stare. Screens make the problem worse
By simply approaching the action with no intention to do it (e.g. hovering a call button) triggers the same predictive circuitry as actually doing it. With motor preparation you can trigger prediction error to your advantage (fear came, nothing happened, repeat, adapt)
Picture schooling: the belief is so reinforced by culture, that even if you might have hated classes, exams, and did not care for learning back then, as an adult most still believe formal school system is the way to go. It is the most insane collective belief out there
Did you know, most of our expectations come from culture or others, not firsthand experience? When reinforced into high-level beliefs, it's pretty difficult to change these. E.g. "Schooling makes my kid smart" or "I must succeed to be worthy"
Beliefs tend to use overlearned pathways that are harder to modify. If I want to change behavior, I need to figure out the most vallent bad beliefs (usually sort of "hidden"), and killing them node by node. Borrowing beliefs/imitation is a strong tool to get good beliefs
