NCERT has produced a shocking and intellectually embarrassing contradiction in its treatment of the Alvars and Nayanars.
In Class 7, children are told that Bhakti spread "among all layers of society," emerged from "diverse social backgrounds," and was "open to everyone-cutting across gender and social divisions." (page 87-88, NCERT Social Science Text Book for Class 7)

Five years later, the same NCERT presents the very same Alvar–Nayanar tradition as a "movement of protest against the caste system and the dominance of Brahmanas." (page 144, NCERT History Text Book for class 12, Themes in Indian History Part 2)

The absurdity becomes even greater because NCERT’s own Class 12 textbook admits that these Bhaktas came from Brahmanas, artisans, cultivators and communities regarded as "untouchable."
So even its own evidence demolishes the crude Brahmin-versus-non-Brahmin narrative.

If this is the standard of historical scholarship expected from NCERT, the problem is not with the Alvars and Nayanars.
The problem is with the textbook writers who apparently cannot describe a Hindu tradition without first forcing it into an ideological template.

आज एक समाचार देखा कि इंडिगो के पायलट पर ट्रेनी पायलट ने 'मोदी एक्ट' लगवा दिया क्योंकि उसे 'नॉट फिट टू फ्लाई' कहा गया था। ये तो चलिए बाहर आ रहा है हर दिन, पर एक ज्वालामुखी जो मोदी और भाजपा ने सरकारी कार्यालयों में बो रखा है, उसकी स्थिति और विकट है।

मोदी जी के प्रियजन ना काम करते हैं, हल्ला खूब मचाते हैं, समय से आने-जाने पर भी बहुत अधिक रोक आदि नहीं है, प्रमोशन भी समय से पहले इनका ही हों है, तो उनको बस एक काम ही बचता है: मोदी एक्ट लगा कर अपने विरोधियों (जिसे वो ऐसा मानते हैं) को नौकरी से निकलवाना या सस्पेंड करवा कर प्रताड़ित करना।

जब इंडिगो जैसी घटनाएँ होती हैं, तो स्पष्ट संदेश यह जाता है कि मोदी एक्ट लाभार्थियों को नौकरी पर रखने से पहले १० बार सोचो कि कार्यालय में ये क्या-क्या करेंगे। पौने तीन लाख केस पेंडिंग हैं इस एक्ट में। हज़ारों करोड़ कंपनसेशन दिया जा चुका है।

मोदी अपनी बंसी बजा रहा है:

Chapter 4, page 46-47 of NIOS Senior Secondary School Text Book for Indian Culture and Heritage compares Hinduism and Islam and outrightly ridicules Hinduism.

It says that Hinduism degenerated when Islam arrived in India, Hinduism ill-treated lower classes. Islam was the opposite of what was in practise among Hindus. It talked of equality, brotherhood and oneness of God. There were no dogmas in Islam. On the other hand, it had a simple doctrine and a democratic organisation.
The book demeans Hindu religious practices as superstitions.

It is ironical that this is a part of the course titled- "Indian Culture and Heritage".

We have just started analyzing only a few subjects. But what we have found is quite disgusting.
The same following themes repeat across multiple subjects - Gender Studies, Sociology, Indian Culture and Heritage, History, Political Science etc-
1. Hinduism is bad, General Category particularly Brahmins and Thakurs are villains.
2. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism are great religions and these religions treat women better than Hinduism.
3. Arrival of Islam and Christianity was a God's gift to India as they have pulled India out of dark ages.

& The books provide absolutely no references for these claims.

Q is whether there are no audits or checks in the preparation of these text books?

What is the recourse of the common Hindu when the government itself wages a war on our traditions and inject falsehood?
