This is Waziristan!
Children in the rest of the world grow up with the chirps of birds, but children in Waziristan have been growing up with the thunder of bullets for the last 25 years.

One year ago, I had the honour of delivering the 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg. With Mandela’s legacy in mind, I wanted to focus on a very clear and personal injustice I felt was not receiving enough attention: the erasure of Afghan women and girls under the Taliban’s brutal regime of gender apartheid.
Against the odds, Afghan activists have built a global movement to hold the Taliban accountable. Because of their efforts, governments recently agreed to advance negotiations on the crimes against humanity treaty at the UN, bringing us one big step closer to recognising gender apartheid as a crime under international law.
In 1998, at a celebration of the life of anti-apartheid leader Chief Albert Luthuli, Nelson Mandela said, ‘Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.’ Afghan women and girls are demonstrating their courage, determination and the real leadership Mandela described — and we must all stand with them.
The struggle goes on , still a long way to go. Brave women of #Afghanistan struggling and one day they will achieve the goal iA #GirlsEducation#LetThemFly
