I am seriously outraged by the horrific terrorist attack on Kasuwan Daji Market in Demo community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, which claimed the lives of over 30 innocent Nigerians, led to the abduction of several traders, and destroyed livelihoods painstakingly built over many years.
Furthermore, this brutally horrific assault on peaceful citizens going about their lawful activities is barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable. Markets are meant to be centres of commerce, interaction, and hope, not killing fields for terror groups.
On this note, I advise the relevant government institutions to provide prompt humanitarian support and economic relief to the affected traders and families whose means of livelihood have been destroyed.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, to the abducted victims and their loved ones, and to the Government and people of Niger State, particularly, our brother His Excellency Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bago.
I pray to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss. My thoughts and prayers are also with those currently in captivity, and I sincerely hope for their safe and speedy rescue as soon as possible
I stand in solidarity with the people of Borgu, Niger State, and all Nigerians affected by insecurity. May Allah bring an end to these series of attacks and humiliate the perpetrators and all those who support them directly or indirectly.
