I used to work in AI. Now I make jewelry.
It may sound like a strange transition, but to me, they’re connected.
AI is changing how we think, work, and create.
And the more powerful technology becomes, the more interested I am in what remains deeply human:
emotion, thought, the body, nature, and our place in the universe.
That became the idea behind Philip & Sophia Atelier.
Five Spaces. One Life.
Jewelry as a small, wearable reminder to return to ourselves.
What does it mean to reinvent yourself at 40?
For me, strangely, it started with AI.
The more I thought about artificial intelligence, the more I found myself asking questions about being human.
What is consciousness?
What is experience?
What does it mean to have a body, to feel, to be present?
Somewhere along the way, my exploration of AI became an exploration of myself.
From artificial intelligence to self-discovery.
Maybe reinvention isn’t always about becoming someone new.
Maybe sometimes, it’s about discovering who you’ve been underneath everything else.

At around 40, I’m less interested in becoming “better.”
I’m more interested in becoming more aware.
Aware of what I feel.
What I value.
What I’ve been carrying.
And what is actually mine.

I spent years working with AI.
I didn’t expect it to lead me toward contemplation.
But the more powerful machines become, the more interested I become in stillness, embodiment, awareness, and direct experience.
Technology led me back to the human.

@mayemusk@harperbooks@HQstories “Reinvention at any age” really speaks to me. We often talk about becoming successful, but not enough about becoming someone new at different stages of life. Looking forward to reading this.

AI can become increasingly intelligent.
But can it experience the world without a living body?
If intelligence can be disembodied, can experience be disembodied too?
Perhaps embodiment is part of what makes human experience human.

Technology keeps removing friction from our lives. But perhaps not all friction should disappear. Some things become meaningful because we slow down enough to experience them. #experience#technology
Meditation asks us to close our eyes. Contemplation can begin with looking. At a tree. A stone. A gemstone. And staying long enough to actually see. #Meditation#Contempation
In the age of AI, attention may become one of our most precious human resources. What we choose to notice shapes the world we experience. #Attention#AI
