I also want to thank @StephenBlais for introducing Bill 5 and the Opposition parties for voting in favour.
I urge @PaulCalandra: no more delays — work with us to make politics a safe, inclusive environment.

Thank you so much @JoelHardenONDP! You are a total gem and I am so grateful to you for your ongoing support for years! You gave victims a voice and have been an advocate for us since the beginning.
I want to extend my gratitude to @WomenofOntSayNo, as well as all the advocates and survivors fighting for accountability for municipal office holders guilty of sexual assault and harrassment.
It is on us to make safety and respect the cornerstone of public service. #onpoli
I was proud to stand alongside @ejhINT from @WomenofOntSayNo demanding legislation to deal with harassment and violence by municipally elected officials.
We need accountability now. And it was good to have all three opposition leaders speaking out for action.
We need to demand better. Women deserve better.
#onpoli
We need accountability for those elected officials who commit egregious wrongdoing.
I urge @PaulCalandra to address the concerns of @WomenofOntSayNo & introduce a bill this session.
If the Ford government continues to fail to act, we will act when we form government in 2026.

Yes! 🙌 I hope we will finally see change!!! Thank you @WomenofOntSayNo for your amazing work and thank you @MaritStiles for adding that pressure. Everyone deserves a safe workplace free of harassment and discrimination.
For 5 years, advocates - backed by public support - have been demanding change. Will it happen in 2024? https://t.co/YVuMjySB0e @WomenofOntSayNo#ottnews#onpoli
To add more trauma & injustice to this whole situation, council members were put in the awkward position to reprimand their mayor after a 5 hour council spectacle. This is not fair to anyone involved, especially the survivors. I hope they have support. They did not deserve this.
Two professionals trying to do their job went on medical leave and resigned due to harassment and bullying by a mayor while he loses some pay and gets to stay. This is not right. @PaulCalandra@Charmomof5@MaritStiles@BonnieCrombie@MikeSchreiner

Facing the heat from municipalities and opposition parties, the Ford government now says "airtight" legislation that could force local politicians out of office for harassing staff is in the works. https://t.co/OYzbVNT4jh
Amazing! Thank you! I really appreciated your kind words to me and @CapitalDobbs when we were at Queens Park @MikeSchreiner, your sincerity and authenticity continues to ring true. Thank you thank you thank you for using your voice & influence to speak to this non-partisan issue!
@JCHIANELLO@TorontoStar I’d like to correct myself, it was Prescott (not Perth) where the CAO talked about their experience of bullying and degrading behaviour towards him by a former council member.

@JCHIANELLO@TorontoStar Thank you for using your platform to talk about this! We need to keep moving towards real accountability so what happened in Ottawa, Barrie, Brampton, South Glengarry, Mississauga, Oshawa, Brighton, Perth and so many more municipalities across Ontario, doesn’t happen again!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your support. Everyone deserves a safe workplace free of harassment, discrimination and bullying. Especially our incredible local leaders who are doing good work in the frontlines of their townships! Thank you thank you thank you!
I’ve been saying it from the beginning, this is not a partisan issue. It’s an accountability issue and a human rights issue. I am deeply disappointed that @PaulCalandra and @Charmomof5 are on the completely wrong side of this issue.
Great piece today in @TorontoStar by @krushowy about the level of advocacy needed for basic human rights in local politics! Elated that @MaritStiles, @MikeSchreiner & @BonnieCrombie all agree that changes to the Ontario Municipal Act need to happen, now!

@SimpliiFin Well, I officially have to hang up at the 4.5 hr mark to take my kids to the new Trolls movie. I can touch base after and let you know if it was worth it?
