Deepening its commitment to nurturing para-athletes, HCLFoundation under its special initiative Sports for Change collaborated with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
What stood out this year? The incredible rise of girl power. Not only was female participation at an all-time high, but in several sports, the number of girls competing even surpassed the boys - redefining what strength, spirit, and sportsmanship look like.
Tamil Nadu lifted the overall trophy, while Kerala, in a powerful debut, took home the Runner-up title.
But the real win?
The friendships formed, the courage shown, and the unwavering determination that played out on every field and court.
Across five thrilling days, 1128 student athletes from 5 southern states gave it their all. From high-octane Football, Rugby or Kabaddi clashes to the quiet intensity of Chess and Carrom, 16 sporting events brought out the best in these young champions.
From silent nerves at the starting line to roaring cheers at the finish. From lone dreams to shared victories. From learning the game to living the spirit of it. That’s what the 7th Edition of South Zone Championship in Tumakuru, Karnataka ultimately became.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Habitats Trust and HCL Foundation for marine conservation at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi. This strategic partnership aims to implement critical conservation initiatives, including removal of Ghost Nets addressing the pressing issue of abandoned fishing gear that poses threats to marine life, Mapping and Classifying Ghost Gear Aggregation Areas which will enhance understanding of areas affected by ghost gear to prioritize cleanup efforts.
The MoU entails conducting surveys in ecologically sensitive regions to monitor and protect marine biodiversity and aims to involve coastal communities in conservation activities to foster stewardship of marine ecosystems.
