@mlebates @UFLiteracy Absolutely. I had a big discussion with a kinder class about maps, travel, treasure maps, and so on. We pulled up Google images and talked about how some people use pins on a map to track all of the places they have been or wish to go. Decodable texts are invaluable.

@Mxhumanizingedu School is still designed for the perfect “fits inside the box” student. Students that learn differently or have lived experience that makes it hard to “fit the box” struggle. My son in Grade 11 is one of them and it has been a very difficult educational journey.

@avivaloca Yes, we are using UFLI for small group instruction for some of our junior students. Some of our grade 3 teachers are using it as well.

@MrZachG Most employees are looking for flexibility in work schedules. Teachers don’t have a lot of flexibility (I could never drop off or pick up my own kids at school) but could sometimes leave early or stay late, and many come early in the morning and take work home.

@Sflecce Of course. Everyone is going to accept this money. That doesn’t make it right. Just think about how many Educational Assistants could be employed with this money. What a shame. @fordnation

How are we levelling the playing field? Scheduling parent teacher conferences is not equitable. Many of our processes are not. Families with time, technology, and education have the advantage. For busy families under stress what happens? You don’t schedule interviews.
