Das ist eine traurige Nachricht. Salih Muslim, eine der prägendsten Stimmen im Kampf gegen den IS und für kurdische Selbstbestimmung in #Rojava ist gestorben. Er setzte sich Zeit seines Lebens für die kurdische Selbstbestimmung, sowie für die Rechte und den Schutz der verschiedenen Minderheiten in der Region ein. Sein Sohn, Shervan Muslim ist im Oktober 2013 im Kampf gegen den ISIS in den Reihen der YPG gefallen.
Sein Tod erinnert mich heute auch daran, mit wie viel Entbehrungen,Leid, Kampf und Widerstand kurdisches Menschenleben verbunden ist. Die Erinnerung bleibt.

“Raqqa,” Mohammed responded. “Kurdish or Arab?” the gunman asked. “Kurds, but we don’t belong to any armed or political party,” Mohammed replied.

“Kill all the adults,” the commander shouted. The family tried to get out of the vehicle to plead for their lives. Mohammed was immediately shot in the head by one of the gunmen.

The US & int’l community must press for Syrian Government to stop attacks and to stay out of Kurdish majority areas also filled with Christian, Yazidis, and other minorities at risk of ethnic cleansing.

There is a way to integrate NE Syria into the Syrian Government by preserving their local security and governance. That would protect these communities and give Syria a better chance of peace and stability.
