Online shopping in Bharat about to get a LOT MORE TRANSPARENT.

From 1 Jan 2027, new E-Commerce Rules will put stronger checks on how online platforms display prices, search results, sponsored products and seller information.

What changes for the common consumer?

🔹 Fake discount games get tougher — the “prior price” must be the lowest price in the previous 30 days.

🔹 Paid listings must be clearly identified — no hiding sponsored results.

🔹 Search results cannot be manipulated to mislead consumers or reduce relevance.

🔹 Dark patterns face greater scrutiny — platforms must conduct an annual self-audit and display a compliance certificate.

🔹 Seller & product information such as return/refund, warranty, delivery and payment details must be disclosed.

🔹 Imported products must disclose the country of origin and importer details.

🔹 Consumer data cannot be used for specified purposes without express and affirmative consent.

🔹 Grievances become more transparent — consumers must receive a copy of the complaint recorded by the platform's grievance officer.

👉And the scale of the problem is clear:

17.71 lakh grievances reached the National Consumer Helpline in 2025.

Nearly 29% — 5.11 lakh complaints — were related to e-commerce.

If we are in Digital Age, then consumer must be protected & This is what consumer empowerment looks like in the digital age.

Modi Sarkar is not just pushing Digital India — it is also working to make Digital India more transparent, accountable and consumer-friendly.

Technology should empower the consumer, not confuse or exploit them.

1 January 2027: Online shopping gets a stronger consumer shield. Rules are already notified on 9 September 2026.

Now @BJP4India must answer why it always fails to highlight achievements of own Govt.
