@MCD_Delhi@DCSOUTHZONE@SBM_MCD — 39 days. Still no cattle impoundment. This morning, stray cattle are again feeding on scattered waste at #MegaHousingComplex D6, #VasantKunj, and the bins are still full. The volume here has exceeded what a once-daily collection cycle can handle — that fact has been visible in our daily reports for over a month.
We are not asking for another one-off clearance. We are asking MCD to correct the system:
1.Twice-daily waste lifting
2.Additional bins, proportionate to the volume generated
3.Immediate cattle impoundment — overdue for 39 days

🌳 This green space is the heart of our community! Dandiya, Diwali festivities and cultural celebrations bring residents together here throughout the year. It is a living community space, not vacant land for commercial development.

Where will our children play and senior citizens walk?” 🏃♂️🌳 Hundreds of families across 4 housing societies in Vasant Kunj protest against DDA converting local parks into shopping complexes, even as old market blocks remain unused.

🌳 NARMADA–SARASWATI, VASANT KUNJ: SAVE OUR MATURE TREES!
Any proposal for a commercial LSC on this green space must first explore alternative sites and designs that preserve existing trees.
⚖️ In M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (SC, 19 Dec 2024), the Court reiterated that under Delhi’s Tree Preservation Act, permission to fell trees must be an exception, not routine.
DDA must protect our trees, not sacrifice them for construction.

Save Our Park | A humble appeal to the authorities
Narmada and Saraswati Apartments are home to nearly 1,000 families, around 4,000 residents, including children. Yet, we do not have a single dedicated park within our society.
As per the DDA Master Plan, a 5,000 sq. m. park was meant to be provided for the residents. Instead, the designated main park space has now been proposed for an LSC (Local Shopping Centre)—a proposal that we believe is contrary to the intended planning provisions and the needs of the community.
This is not just an open piece of land for us. This is the space where we celebrate 26th January, 15th August and our cultural and community events. It is the only shared green space where our children can play and residents can come together.
We humbly appeal to the authorities: please do not take away the only space that can serve as a park for 4,000 residents including children.
We sincerely request that this space be allowed to remain a park, as intended for the community.
If our genuine and peaceful appeals continue to go unheard, residents may be compelled to undertake an indefinite hunger strike as a last resort.
Please let our park remain a park. Our children deserve a place to play, and our community deserves a place to breathe.
Sincerely
Vikram Gahlot
President , Narmada RWA
Thank you for responding. With respect:
DDA may not have felled any trees yet, but your own tender would ultimately affect 400+ mature trees, 180+ Leaving the felling to the plot buyers shifts the responsibility. It doesn't save a single tree.
The complex already has a #CSC that has stayed largely under-used since 2010. What is the demand for two more LSCs when the population within #MegaHousingComplex is under 8500?
The "daily needs of the surrounding area" are being met at the cost of residents inside the
#MegaHousingComplex. We lose our only green space, children's play area and seniors' walking track.
4. The Hon'ble Supreme Court did not close the matter.
It allowed Narmada (and Saraswati) RWA to seek review before the Delhi High Court, with the option to return to the SC. The legal route remains open.
Until residents have used every legal remedy, DDA should put on hold any activity that affects residents' access to this open space or the character of the complex.
If DDA is truly committed to protecting green spaces, as it reminded us during #WildlifeWeek2026, we request:
•An independent assessment of whether the #LSCs are
If DDA is truly committed to protecting green spaces, as it reminded us during #WildlifeWeek2026, we request:
An independent assessment of whether the #LSCs are needed, taking into account the under-used #CSC
Consultation with the RWAs of the complex before any further step
No tree felling permission to be sought or granted until then
We welcome development, but not at the cost of trees that can never be replaced.

The LSC-1 and LSC-2 at D-6, Vasant Kunj, are earmarked for neighbourhood commercial facilities under the sanctioned layout plan.
DDA is undertaking the development of these LSC plots for commercial facilities, along with the development of the plotted area and associated infrastructure, in accordance with the approved layout plan and applicable norms. The development will cater to the daily needs of residents of the surrounding area.
No trees have been felled by DDA. Any tree cutting, if required, will be undertaken only after obtaining the requisite approval from the Forest Department.
The Hon’ble Delhi High Court dismissed the connected writ petitions on 17.08.2026, finding no established illegality, arbitrariness or statutory violation. The SLP filed by Narmada RWA was subsequently dismissed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on 30.09.2026.
DDA remains committed to protecting green spaces and public assets while undertaking planned development for the benefit of residents.

Thank you @MCD_Delhi@DCSOUTHZONE@SBM_MCD for lifting the accumulated waste at #MegaHousingComplex D6, #VasantKunj last night around 9:30 PM.
However, waste collection needs to be more frequent and timely. When bins remain full for long, waste overflows onto the road, gets scattered, and attracts cattle—creating avoidable public-health and sanitation concerns.
Regular lifting before bins overflow is essential. Four additional bins are also still needed to manage the waste volume at this point.

Large numbers of residents have gathered peacefully to oppose @official_dda’s hasty boundary-wall construction. A recent HC order in DDA’s favour should not mean that residents are overpowered or denied a fair opportunity to explore lawful alternatives.
As per #MPD2021, an LSC is not required here, yet public open space meant for children and senior citizens is being pushed towards enclosure. DDA must pause, engage transparently and ensure cordial, equal treatment of residents.

The garbage quantity is comparatively less this morning—an appreciated improvement. @DCSOUTHZONE@MCD_Delhi
But cattle are still roaming around and feeding on exposed waste because covered, lidded bins remain absent at #MegaHousingComplex D6, #VasantKunj.
Without safe waste containment, the risk of scattered garbage and animal access continues. Covered bins and effective measures to prevent cattle access are urgently needed.
