Now about to rewatch 21 Grams. Haven’t seen it in over 20 years, I hope it holds up.
A fun fact is that this and Amores Perros were pivotal to me being accepted to Vancouver Film School. Back in high school I wanted to be a film director and during senior year I applied, and the script I submitted was for a hypothetical WWIII project done in the style of an early Alejandro González Iñárritu film. I got accepted but sadly I couldn’t secure funding and that’s what led to me joining the military at 18.
That’s why I edit my YouTube videos as I do. The music, visuals, and end credits are all an aspect of my film director side that lives on.
Birthday binge movie 10: Leon The Professional
Been forever since I’ve rewatched this, and like most other films on this year’s binge, it was great to revisit. 90’s Luc Besson films have such a cool style. His closeups, choice in lighting and color, and the way he frames action is just so spectacular. This isn’t an all time favorite for me but it is one I always have a good time with. Although I will state, I intentionally chose the theatrical version as the extended cut isn’t as enjoyable for me.
Time to drop a bomb. I have chosen to detransition. Here is my video explaining why.
The important take away is that after a brief hiatus I will be back. After years away, regular streaming & content creation is returning: https://t.co/7U4SHeZ5FF
@5w0rd5a1n7 No, I've never had bottom surgery. I raised funds for other procedures, not all of them even trans related. One was to help repair the skin where I'd had an old athletic hernia injury.

@superharek It’s like a whipped and mildly gelatinous brick of sugar. It’s unbelievably amazing in certain treats.
Roast a marshmallow over a flame and then try this combo. It will forever change you as a person:
If you hate hamfisted political pandering in movies then perhaps you shouldn’t gaslight yourself into thinking Uwe Boll made a good film just because it expresses views you agree with.
A bad movie is a bad movie, regardless if it’s Hollywood or some independently funded German dude. ♀️
A) Im not Jewish, B) nowhere have I criticized the subject matter, C) there’s no way you’re defending Uwe Boll this hard, until literally a week ago everyone dunked on his terrible movies & have done so for two decades cuz he doesn’t make good films, regardless of politics/themes

Every year around my birthday my partner and I binge watch a ton of movies. And this year I’m going to discuss/rate them, so consider this the start of a movie thread.
Birthday binge movie 1: They Will Kill You.
An entertainingly stupid movie. Gloriously dumb. The epitome of a movie you can’t think about for too long but if you just sit back and enjoy it for what it is, it’s a good time. It has a style & a sense of humor that helps carry it further than I would have expected. Not a must see by any means, but a fun one nonetheless. Although, even after having fun with it, I do think this style of movie needs to go on a long hiatus. With things like Ready or Not, Abigail, and a recent handful of others, this tone is getting played out.
Birthday binge movie 9: American Beauty
One of my absolute top ten favorite films. I’ve probably seen it more times than nearly any other movie on earth, and I never get tired of watching it. The final monologue also never fails to make me cry. I haven’t rewatched it in a number of years, but it still packed a punch. I teared up tonight. This is the movie equivalent of an all-timer contemporary novel. A great American classic. It explores so many themes and it sticks the landing on each one, but most important is its exploration of human emotions, particularly the sense of stagnancy and lost time that so many of us feel at one point or another during our lives, often experiencing it for months or years on end, and the film explores it on such a profound and personal level that it just sticks with me. I may now strongly dislike the lead actor but I wont take away from him how well his performance is. A 10/10 film, and for over 20 years that opinion hasn’t changed. I don’t think it ever will.
NEW: Instacart worker arrested after Ring camera catches her slapping her own child during delivery
Video shows 36-year-old Kiah Lowery becoming frustrated when her child struggled to carry a basket of groceries and then dropped a case of water bottles.
Lowery responded by slapping the child and calling him the “worst and “piece of shit.”
She was booked into the St. Johns County Jail and later released with a no-contact order regarding the child.
I get it, I genuinely do. A lot of people on the right feel disenfranchised by how overly leftwing the media has become, and you’re craving content that aligns with your beliefs. Which is totally fair. But come on now, it’s Uwe Boll. His movies are not good. This recent movie is not good. Allow yourself to have some standards. Treat yourself (and your beliefs) with respect and push for better art. You don’t have to latch onto some shitty project simply because it’s a rarity for you.
@iamjacks_______ Not going to pull everything out tonight but there's one closet of old bins that might be worth a check, will be browsing tomorrow. This thing has to be somewhere.
Birthday binge movie 7: The Departed
Inject this into my veins, this was the good stuff. It's funny, I saw this film way back when it released and I thought it was good enough but not amazing, certainly not my favorite Scorsese film of which I've seen most of his work, but nearly 20 years later and this rewatch had me in a grip hold. An excellent movie, top tier even, I was absolutely hooked. Perhaps now elevated to my second favorite Scorsese film, second only to Casino which will forever hold a special place in my heart.
