It has been 15 days since Mahjabeen and Yunus Baloch were forcibly disappeared. They were taken without a warrant, without being informed of any charges, and without access to legal counsel or due process. No court authorized their detention, no judge was notified, and their families have received no information about their whereabouts or condition.

This is not only a clear violation of their fundamental rights under the constitution, but also a grave breach of international human rights law and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which prohibits arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances. These actions constitute a crime under international law.

We demand transparency, justice, and the immediate, safe release of Mahjabeen and Yunus Baloch. The silence and inaction must end.

In a deeply distressing development, three children were killed earlier today in an alleged drone strike on Hurmaz village, located in Tehsil Mir Ali, North Waziristan. Multiple accounts have shared graphic images of the tragedy on social media including KP Minister for Relief Nek Mohammad Khan Dawar. Despite the gravity of the allegations there is silence from the Government and Electronic Media.

This silence is not just a failure of coverage — it is a failure of accountability.

In the face of such horrific loss, it is incumbent upon both the provincial and federal governments to urgently address these reports. Was it really a drone strike? What went wrong? Why are lethal drones being deployed over our own towns and villages — tools of war once associated with a foreign army — knowing full well the terror they rain down upon civilian populations?

Drones do not merely kill. They instill deep, lasting psychological trauma — especially among children who learn to associate the sky with death. And when these tragedies go unacknowledged, the pain and confusion only deepen, breeding mistrust, fear, and alienation among already traumatized communities.

The United States may have packed its bags and exited Afghanistan, but for the children of North Waziristan, the war never truly ended. According to data from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (@TBIJ), Hurmaz was targeted in at least three U.S. drone strikes between 2010 and 2012. In November 2024, the @OSPSF published footage of an alleged Pakistan Army operation in the same village utilizing armed quadcopter drones.

Just two days ago, alarming reports emerged from Shewa, also in North Waziristan, where the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was reportedly terrorizing children by forcibly shutting down schools. Today, children are not even safe in their own homes — threatened by the very weapons deployed in the name of their protection.

For years, the people of North Waziristan have endured the unimaginable — displaced from their homes, forced into camps, or compelled to migrate in search of safety. Generations have grown up amid war, haunted by the drone’s hum and the thunder of explosions. How much more must they bear?

Despite large scale military operations such as Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, the threat of the TTP and its affiliates continues to fester. Calls for intensifying military action against terrorists may come easily in urban centers far from the frontline — but it is the people of the former FATA region who will once again pay the price in blood, loss, and trauma.

Suppressing such tragedies does not prevent chaos — it fuels it. It fosters conspiracy, widens the gap between state and citizen, and deepens the wounds of those already suffering.

We must not look away. These are our children. Their lives — and their deaths — demand to be seen, heard, and answered for.
