@lilamediahunter Yes, it made me think about how New York hasn't really changed much. I feel like tensions have gotten even worse as certain communities throughout the city are being completely flipped due to gentrification.
@sarahathunter I agree about it feeling authentic because the movie reminded me of my own neighborhood. I think the colors and music used towards the first half of the movie also made it feel more nostalgic.
I was surprised at how much of the movie reminded me of the protests during the 2020 BLM protests. The way the dialogue was written was extremely realistic, even if it was a little dramatized. The directors use of fashion was also something that stood out to me #Media1802D04
@rainydb333 I agree, censorship takes away many important voices. For example, certain texts have been removed from libraries because of their "harmful" content but when further observed, it was usually educational. If the Internet was regulated I believe a similar situation would occur.
@NeeneH138 I agree, limiting the amount of media that can be distributed on the Internet would definitely silence certain groups and the content that they share.
I do not think that the FCC should regulate the Internet in the same way TV is regulated because it would create mistrust within consumers. The plethora of news outlets available currently gives people the option of choosing which outlet best serves them. #media1802D04
@NeeneH138 I agree, it caters to those who want to use mouth wash. I think it includes animals and greenery to make it's consumers believe that what they're using is sustainable or cruelty free. A lot of brands are using elements of wild life or nature to "greenwash" their products.
@onlyforschool01 I agree, a lot of brands have been working with musicians or influencers to promote their food. The first few examples that pop into my head is the Travis Scott meal or the Ice Spice drink.
This Diesel ad from 2010 is targeted for young people. At this time, "YOLO" rose to popularity, creating this ad, which puts focus on the importance of spontaneity. This ad is a heavy contrast from the overtly sexual and serious tone from typical ads of the time. #media1802D04
@sarahathunter I agree, cable has given people the ability to bond over specific interests to create niche communities. By having these communities, it's easier for people to meet like-minded people.
I do not think cable has disrupted our sense of community but instead has created more niche communities. Because of cable, people can find various channels to bond over specific interests instead of relying on large broadcasting networks. #media1802D04
@tinachen5448 I agree, social media has given people access to resources, giving them the ability to easily educate themselves. It also provides a sense of community for many people.
@lilamediahunter I agree with your statement that social media can cause harm by spreading hatred and division among people. People now have the freedom to share hateful messages because they have the privilege of hiding behind a screen.
Social media fosters the principle of freedom because it gives people resources to easily educate themselves. Easy accessibility to the Internet has given people the ability to explore their interests. Social media helped create a more interconnected world. #media1802D04
