@mancunianmedic@FHawksworth My benchmark is a dr should be able to afford a 4 bed house in a good area in their 30s - that's not been possible in the s. east w/out parental support for 20 yrs. least we could do for people doing such a hard and important job, who could earn much more.
@DrLKVaughan@DrSdeG I think without knowing the exact sequence of events it is hard to say. But it's important that boards are held to account on such things. It's a pretty extreme situation though to have a CEO having what was probably a psychotic episode.
@cochranereturns@thomasforth@IGMansfield This one is easy - healthcare is a lot more complicated than it was 100 years ago! And it's not as if the British did a good job for its Indian subjects....
@mancunianmedic@CMichaelGibson Also it's interesting to me that it doesn't mention patients. Surely helping patients is a big part of why clinicians do what they do?
@RedPavlova@MedRegoncall1 They're not getting paid anything extra in this case. And in any case, the point is to increase cancer awareness to promote earlier presentation to the GP to help diagnose cancers earlier. Is that not worth spending money on?
@rut85826@MedRegoncall1 Lots of people minimise the importance of rectal bleeding. Isn't it a good idea for a health professional to counsel that someone sees their GP for it?
@MariaPalmer1@MedRegoncall1 All they are doing is talking to people about the signs of cancer and recommending referral to a GP if anything is worrying. Lots of research says this is safe and is part of wider efforts to promote cancer awareness and therefore earlier diagnosis.
@MedRegoncall1@rut85826 Because research has shown that using multiple channels to promote cancer awareness and channel people with relevant symptoms to GPs is good for earlier diagnosis of cancer.
@MedRegoncall1 Seriously, this post does not do what you think it does. This is nothing to do with role replacement, or anything like that. You have misunderstood what is happening. You should delete this.
@JimBethell The nine million refers to the three active cancer screening programmes - bowel, cervical and breast - I'm not sure what you're talking about.
