Finansijski pritisak sa kojim se suočava značajan broj starijih osoba, naročito žena, osoba koje žive same i stanovnika ruralnih područja. Visoki troškovi dugotrajne nege dodatno produbljuju ekonomsku nesigurnost. Istovremeno, većina starijih se oslanja na neformalnu, porodičnu podršku jer su formalne usluge često finansijski nedostupne.

Ovo su nalazi istraživanja o uticaju troškova dugotrajne nege na rizik od siromaštva starijih osoba u Srbiji, koje je Crveni krst Srbije predstavio, a istraživanje je sprovela SeConS grupa.

Na događaju na kojem su govorili predstavnici @CKSrbije , SeConS-a i međunarodni partneri iz Austrije, u ime institucije Poverenika govorila je Tatjana Prijić, pomoćnica poverenika.

Ograničena dostupnost usluga i visoki troškovi zdravstvene i socijalne nege predstavljaju ozbiljan finansijski pritisak, naročito za žene, osobe koje žive same i stanovnike ruralnih područja. Mnoge starije osobe prinuđene su da smanje troškove za hranu i lekove kako bi priuštile neophodnu negu. Zbog toga je unapređenje sistema dugotrajne nege i zakonodavnog okvira neophodno, ne samo kao vid socijalne podrške, već kao preduslov za očuvanje dostojanstva, bezbednosti i pune ravnopravnosti najstarijih sugrađana.
