The evocative poem ‘Oíche Nollag’ by Máire Mhac an tSaoi; recited by the people of Dún Chaoin - a community and place that inspired much of her poetry. #WestKerry#NollaigShona

@KimSweeney8 Thanks Kim! You too! The energy does start coming back - I was so happy the first day I wasn’t completely wiped out by my little toddle round the neighbourhood 😅
Like many many people, I caught Covid over Christmas. Today was my first day out of the house since 21 December. 5000 steps around the neighbourhood and I am so tired that I’ve had to have a lie down on the couch. “Mild” doses are still absolute doses 😷
All of this is to say, if you’re thinking that it wouldn’t be too bad to get a mild case so why keep taking all those precautions, please don’t. I’m double vaxxed, I’m careful about masking and social distancing, and I still caught it, and it’s the sickest I’ve been in 10 years
Most of the two weeks, I slept sitting up (when I could sleep), just so I could breathe and not feel like I was drowning. I didn’t start coughing heavily until the second week, but once I did, my whole torso ached. Recovery has been slow, but, thankfully, steady.
“It’s a bloody nightmare”
Meaning: Something is proving a mild inconvenience; typically used to describe slightly heavy traffic, or the internet not working
“It’s not ideal”
Meaning: Something terrible has happened and life is almost certainly ruined
“We can dispatch now with a common myth of modern shopping: The stuff you return probably isn’t restocked and sent back out to another hopeful owner. “
…well, this is an eye opener 🙁
I wrote about all the bizarre, expensive, labor-intensive, and often wasteful stuff that happens after you return something you bought online. https://t.co/wIUPWgzZeR
